No Atheists
In A Foxhole

Rudyard Kipling

" “When you're left wounded on
Afganistan's plains and

the women come out to cut up what remains,
Just roll to your rifle

and blow out your brains,
And go to your God like a soldier”
General Douglas MacArthur

" “We are not retreating. We are advancing in another direction.”

“It is fatal to enter any war without the will to win it.”
“Old soldiers never die; they just fade away.
“The soldier, above all other people, prays for peace,
for he must suffer and be the deepest wounds and scars of war.”
“May God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won't .”
“The object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his.

“Nobody ever defended, there is only attack and attack and attack some more.
“It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died.
Rather we should thank God that such men lived.
The Soldier stood and faced God
Which must always come to pass
He hoped his shoes were shining
Just as bright as his brass
"Step forward you Soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't
Because those of us who carry guns
Can't always be a saint."
I've had to work on Sundays
And at times my talk was tough,
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny
That wasn't mine to keep.
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep,
The Soldier squared his shoulders and said
And I never passed a cry for help
Though at times I shook with fear,
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand."
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod
As the Soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, you Soldier,
You've borne your burden well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."

How will Fadhlina help Afghanistan's invisibles? By Mariam Mokhtar
Saturday, November 23, 2024

Malaysiakini : COMMENT | Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek may have proudly boasted that she hosted a Taliban delegation earlier this month. However, it is how she intends to “open the eyes” of the Taliban rulers and school them on restoring the rights of women to education that is most interesting.

For the Taliban, Afghan women do not exist. They are invisible. They have no rights, no voice, no presence, nor do they have any power, not even in their own homes.

The Taliban do not consider women their equal but treat them as inferior beings. At the third anniversary of gaining control of Afghanistan, no women reporters were allowed to the “celebrations”. Even human rights NGOs had to stop women from distributing aid in Afghanistan.

So, are we to believe that Fadhlina actually met and shook hands with the Taliban delegation led by its Education Ministry director-general Shahabuddin Saqib? If Fadhlina was recognised and accepted as a woman leader, what would the Afghan women think of this hypocrisy by their menfolk?

Stray dogs and cats have more freedom than Afghan women and they freely roam the streets from one rubbish dump to another, but women have to be chaperoned by a male family member if they were to leave their homes. Birds may sing in Afghanistan, but women are not allowed to do so, especially in public.

JWKK : Another bull's eye commentary form Mariam. Among the many excellent points she raised and questioned the Education Minister, together with PM Anwar, is the following: The education minister may have wanted to “seize every opportunity to educate the Afghans”, but where are her priorities?

Shouldn’t she attend to the needs of our own students? Exactly. And this also applies to Anwar. Both have hardly any consistent education policies for the country as a whole but are more interested in promoting their Islamic creds to the world. Fadhlina Sidek's educational and professional background was in syariah law, nothing on education.

Quite obviously, Anwar picked her for that and who her father was. According to The Malaysian Insider: "Her educational background is parochial. It did not prepare her to deal with the complexity of Malaysian education. Her appointment was probably more an expression of that old “terhutang budi” (repaying a debt of gratitude) sentiment.

" Fadhila's father (Sidek Fadzil) was active in Abim, founded by Anwar, and succeeded Anwar as its President in 1983. And Sidek was a long-time Anwar confidant. All Fadhila and Anwar appear more driven by is brag and grandstand in trying to win global recognition for their Islamic creds.

apanama is back : Mariam, Prime minister is Anwar Ibrahim. Finance minister is Anwar Ibrahim. Education minister is Anwar Ibrahim, actual.

Welcome to 1986 (sequel 1). Figure out what I am trying to say. Don't believe me? Look back what the education minister, Anwar, did for the last two years (sequel 2).

MarioT : A leader failing to set a clear and progressive direction for the country with equally valueless and clueless subordinates, is ruining the country.

Collaborating with undesirable elements and favouring violations of human rights and dignity has become the govrrnment's priorities. Sabah and Sarawak, save yourself.

MS : First off, Fadhlina Sidek represents ABIM and is the handpicked proxy of Anwar Ibrahim. Her foremost duty is to continue wrecking Malaysian education in the same manner and with the same zeal as her guide and protector.

To better understand what she is up to, one has to go back to what her leader did soon after he took charge of the Education portfolio in 1986. Penerapan Nilai-Nilai, Islam, Bahasa Baku and renaming Bahasa Malaysia as Bahasa Melayu marked his tenure then.

They laid the foundation for the systematic moronization of schools and universities - the results of which are obvious to even the most obtuse observer today. As detailed in Wikipedia: "Analysts and politicians have also attributed the rise in social conservatism and Islamism among Malays to the reforms and Islamisation of the education system done under Anwar, with former law minister Zaid Ibrahim labelling Anwar an "Islamist"

" The present proxy of his is hellbent on continuing with the jiggery-pokery which became apparent when the cosplay of kefiyeh-clad militants with toy guns entered schools to rouse the children soon after she assumed her role. As for this tête-à-tête with the Taliban (of which her Deputy from the DAP reportedly had no knowledge), it has to be seen as integral to her strategic plan for education - to finish what was started in 1986.
