PMX with a very dead Palestinian |
Malaysiakini : Police have summoned Sarawakian activist Francis Paul Siah for questioning over a Facebook article, in which he criticised Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim for provoking Israel. Siah said he was contacted by one Inspector Firdaus of Bukit Aman this morning who said there were 11 police reports lodged against his Nov 13 posting titled “PMX, Stop Provoking Israel”.
In a statement, the Movement for Change Sarawak (MOCS) leader questioned the investigation against him and stressed that it was within his right to disagree with the prime minister.
“I wish to categorically state here that I have not done anything wrong nor have I broken any law in my recent post on Facebook, other than to state my disagreement with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on his purported intention to call for the sacking of Israel from the United Nations.
“Perhaps, it is necessary for me to remind our politicians that freedom of speech, as enshrined in many democratic constitutions, protects the right of individuals to express their opinions, even when those opinions disagree with or criticise political leaders, including the prime minister or his government’s policies,” he said.
Adding further, Siah called the probe against him an abuse of public institutions by “political parasites and leeches” to silence government dissenters.
“Public institutions like the police are tasked with upholding the law impartially and protecting the rights of all citizens, including those who dissent or criticise the government.
“When they are misused for political purposes such as targeting activists, journalists, or opposition figures, it represents an abuse of power and a violation of civil liberties,” he said.Malaysiakini has reached out to Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain for comments.
Vijay47 : Well done, Francis Paul Siah, your rebuttal statement is even better than the original Facebook comment!
LoveMyCountry : I am so amused whenever PMX talks so much to support Palestinians and run down Israel. Thinks his statements of Palestinians or Israel matters. So insignificant in the circle of world leaders.
AmradS : PMX from hero to Zero
Falcon : Perhaps it is timely for the Madani government to state publicly that any criticism against current Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is a crime. Please state clearly under which statutory provision this is stated.
And please notify through advisories to all embassy and consulates so that we are all on the same page going forward. No need for insiders and apple polishers to waste their time continuing making frivolous and orchestrated reports?
Doubtful : These clowns 🤡 should know that PMX's political stand and policy on Gaza, Hamas and Israel is not the law of this country... Ordinary citizens have the right to disagree with his political stand and policy..
Where's the law passed by Parliament that says you cannot disagree with PMX? 🤔 ... Is it now the PH Govt policy that the police can be used (or, misused) to investigate an ordinary citizen's disagreement with PMX? 🤔...
Cogito Ergo Sum : Going after Francis Siah is a big mistake. He articulates the views of many Sarawakians and even Peninsular citizens and has a large following. He is veteran journalist. Madani, you now are targeting the messengers for bringing you the bad news.
Read the rest of the comments here....Instead of studying and digesting the messages, you are striking down the messengers doing their jobs. When you were DPM, you had the reputation of removing those who did not agree with your politics or shared the same creed and colour as you. After your stints in prison, you seemed to have changed superficially. But now, it’s quite obvious, you are the same but older and nastier.
