No need to master hikayat, just speak BM – Saifuddin tells critics

Typical Bodoh Sombong, Nasution is an Indonesian sounding name that's why he screwed the East Timorese

Malaysiakini
: Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail brushed off a volley of criticism after he talked up proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia and linked it to applying for passports.

In a brief exchange on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), he told lawyer Michelle Yesudas that he never said that all Malaysians needed to master hikayat (Malay folklore)

"Bahasa Malaysia is the national language. No compromise.

“Malaysians have to understand this basic thing. No need to read out hikayat to us for interaction, ” said Saifuddin.  He also pointed out that Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim had mandated the use of Bahasa Malaysia in correspondence involving the government.

BaiJeBo : SAIFUDDIN NASUTION, HOW STUPID CAN YOU BE? Don't divert from the relevant issue. Just answer: is knowing BM a condition for renewing passport? It's that simple, just answer. Or, do you need a secondary school student to translate this to BM for you?

Yes, I reckon you this pathetic. I won't even employ you to be my clerk. The foolishness of some ministers knows no bounds. But we should not expect too much looking at the quality of the PM Anwar Ibrahim.

apa pun boleh : Any guesses why Anwar's ratings are declining? He does not need enemies. His sidekick is doing it very well. In the civil service they call it 'little Napoleons' or 'bodoh sombong'.

Jaycee : It is not that we do not want to master the language or speak it. For so long because non-Muslims are treated like second class citizens, it makes us resent the language.

For example, all quota system, raced-based policies, Bumiputra discounts, Bumiputra Welfare and on and on.... all favor the majority race. Never before have we seen affirmative actions that choose to protect the majority race and not the minority. And yet, you expect us to show patriotism to the country by mastering BM?

And yet, you want us non-muslims who live here all our lives and contributed significantly to income taxes and the economy to embrace the language with all our heart? Think not, Bahasa Malaysia may be the official language, but we will speak what ever we can.

Be firm : The minister is missing the point no one argues that BM is not official language but BM is not a requirement for renewing your passport . Know the difference Mr Minister. Be a man and admit you were wrong

YellowCondor6925 : Anwar, what do you have to say?? You put a backdoor person as a Home Minister and look at the incompetence he is showing to the world. You are mainly responsible for such a blunder.

Where is the courtesy of your Minister and your so-called "Napoleans" who are blindly showing their power to the rakyat? Not being able to converse properly in BM does not mean not showing loyalty to our country.

This Home Minister of yours is time to move out, the rakyat is getting fed up with this sort of ruling. Tourism is going to be impacted as news has spread out.

MBoleh : He has no mental capacity to recognise poor service standard of civil servants. He should be ashamed that rskyat has been bully by poorly trained front desk civil servants who always think that they are superior than their customers.

PurpleCat9452 : It’s time for the Borneo Bloc MP to take over Home Ministry, Education Ministry, Health Ministry or even PMO. Teach the Pen Msian how to live harmoniously like Sarawak or Sabah. After all, without Sarawak and Sabah there is no Malaysia, there is no Bahasa Malaysia. Put an end to the politicisation of Bahasa Malaysia.
