Bersatu slams 'inhumane' summoning of Muhyiddin by MACC By Shakira Buang

Malaysiakini : Bersatu information chief Razali Idris has described the act of summoning the party president Muhyiddin Yassin by the MACC today as “inhumane”. Speaking to reporters outside the MACC headquarters, Razali said they expect the former prime minister to be detained after having his statement recorded by the MACC today, and charged in court tomorrow.

"Today the Madani government helmed by Anwar Ibrahim has summoned Muhyiddin to the MACC to have his statement recorded.

"It is expected that he (Muhyiddin) will be held (after questioning), and charged in court tomorrow. We see this as an 'inhumane' act as the party is having its delegates assembly tomorrow, and the Parliament is also in session," Razali said.

Muhyiddin yesterday confirmed via a statement on his Facebook page that he has been summoned for questioning at MACC at 11am today.

This is inhumane, Bodoh bin Bangang

The Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairperson also denied news reports that he was arrested by the graft busters at a golf course yesterday. Instead, he was attending several meetings regarding the Bersatu annual delegates assembly which starts tomorrow, he clarified.

Supporters gather at MACC HQ

Meanwhile, about 100 supporters of Muhyiddin gathered outside the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya, to show support for the Pagoh MP, as early as 9am.

Also seen among the crowd, all clad in white T-shirts bearing Muhyiddin's image, were PN deputy chairperson Ahmad Faizal Azumu, Indera Mahkota MP Saifuddin Abdullah, as well as Bersatu Youth information chief Mohd Ashraf Mustaqim Badrul Munir.

Should Muhyiddin be charged, it would be the latest in a series of charges laid against Bersatu leaders since mid-February.

On Feb 21, Wan Saiful Wan Jan was charged at the Kuala Lumpur High Court for soliciting bribes of an unspecified amount and slapped with another charge of receiving RM6.96 million in bribes in 2022.

Several charges were also laid against Segambut Bersatu deputy chief Adam Radlan Adam Muhammad.

According to the MACC, these charges were related to the Jana Wibawa scheme, a stimulus project by the then-Muhyiddin administration as part of the Covid-19 pandemic relief efforts. Also charged was Teo Wee Cheng who runs a business in the Pagoh area, which is coincidentally Muhyiddin's stronghold.

Mechi : You reap what you sow. No 2 ways. New era. New Govt to save billions of taxpayers money via corruption. Cease corruption. Preach it in all prayer houses especially....

Demi Rakyat : Huh? Giving a statement to MACC is inhumane?? What pure stupidity!!

Not Confused : It seems as though the MACC has evidence to charge him. He will have his time in court, just like every citizen. Why is this inhumane? The days of leaders getting away with corrupt practices seems to be ending. The rakyat will benefit.

apanama is back : Razali, having 8 stimulus packages amounting almost RM600 billion involving taxpayers'money but NOT accounted at all is called INHUMANE. Your President had blundered the packages, hiding behind the virus and the crown by declaring emergency. It was a very cheap tactic.

bright light : Hello..your dirty boss is more inhumane stealing poor rakyat money

Krabian : What inhumane? Jana Wibawa is a rip-off scheme under the cloud of Emergency.
