Although the High Court convicted Anwar of sodomy charges, the Federal Court eventually overturned the conviction.Musa was responding to a Twitter user who demanded that he explain the context of the three video clips shared by a Twitter account with the handle @makcikbawangmu. The video clips depicted an irate woman talking to a man in a house. A child was present.
At one point, as the man attempted to leave, the woman could be heard asking for her mobile phone to be returned. Musa was the inspector-general of police from 2006 to 2010. In 2013, he joined the Pakatan Rakyat security advisory council as an adviser in the run-up to the 13th parliamentary election.
In 2020, Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh sued Musa for defamation. This followed Musa's claim that Yeoh wrote a book on turning Malaysia into a "Christian nation".
In 1998, he was the officer who investigated allegations of sodomy against then opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim.
