No Atheists
In A Foxhole

Rudyard Kipling

" ā€œWhen you're left wounded on
Afganistan's plains and

the women come out to cut up what remains,
Just roll to your rifle

and blow out your brains,
And go to your God like a soldierā€
General Douglas MacArthur

" ā€œWe are not retreating. We are advancing in another direction.ā€

ā€œIt is fatal to enter any war without the will to win it.ā€
ā€œOld soldiers never die; they just fade away.
ā€œThe soldier, above all other people, prays for peace,
for he must suffer and be the deepest wounds and scars of war.ā€
ā€œMay God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won't .ā€
ā€œThe object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his.

ā€œNobody ever defended, there is only attack and attack and attack some more.
ā€œIt is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died.
Rather we should thank God that such men lived.
The Soldier stood and faced God
Which must always come to pass
He hoped his shoes were shining
Just as bright as his brass
"Step forward you Soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't
Because those of us who carry guns
Can't always be a saint."
I've had to work on Sundays
And at times my talk was tough,
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny
That wasn't mine to keep.
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep,
The Soldier squared his shoulders and said
And I never passed a cry for help
Though at times I shook with fear,
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand."
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod
As the Soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, you Soldier,
You've borne your burden well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."

Two years of Anwar Ibrahim as prime minister (Part Two) X survey results By Murray Hunter
Sunday, December 01, 2024

Murray Hunter : This is the second part of ā€œTwo years of Anwar Ibrahim as prime ministerā€ looking at a few social questions. Should Zahid remain as deputy prime minister?

Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has been acting prime minister in Malaysia for at least 30 occasions, while Anwar Ibrahim was on an overseas trip. Part of the last general election was a plebiscite on Zahidā€™s popularity, where UMNO lost many seats.

After the general election where Zahid played a pivotal role in making Anwar prime minister, Zahidā€™s popularity rose for a short time. Zahidā€™s DNAA over his criminal charges helped to make him very unpopular. Mahkamah: Pengurusan kes status representasi Ahmad Zahid 28 Julai ini - Kosmo Digital

This question had 1,490 views and 224 votes. A resounding 82.1% of respondents believed Zahid should not remain as deputy prime minister. Should the MCMC be closed down?

Censorship is one of the signatures of the Madani government. Malaysia now has one of the most repressive censorship regimes in the world. Press and media censorship is under the prevail of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC). Prior to November 2022, the MCMC was not known by many Malaysians, now the commission has become a household name.

The question received 1,554 views and 208 votes. 76% of respondents believed the MCMC should be closed down. Should Fahmi Fadzil resign as communications minister?

Fahmi Fadzil was one of the most libertarians of PKR before becoming the minister of communication and government spokesperson. Now Fahmi is closely associated with the censorship undertaken by the MCMC, and has become the commissionā€™s chief apologist.

The Malaysian Islamic Development Department (JAKIM) has often been under criticism for its involvement of the Islamization of the nation. This question received only 598 views and 99 responses. Do you trust the judiciary in Malaysia?

This is a very important question regarding the independence of the judiciary, which has been questioned lately. This question received 491 views and 97 votes. Should the Special Branch be dissolved?

The Special Branch is the secret service and FBI of the Royal Malaysian Police, all rolled into one. The Special Branch has also been blamed for the disappearance of people. The question received 774 views and 107 responses. Who's behind Pastor Koh's disappearance? - New Mandala

Still so many unanswered questions over the disappearance of Pastor Raymond Koh.

Conclusions

Ahmad Zahid Hamidi according to the responses is a liability for the Madani administration. He is potentially an election liability. The MCMC and Fahmi as a minister is a big blackmark upon the government. This could potentially hurt Madaniā€™s prospects in traditional supporters of Pakatan Harapan. Fahmi may face a major battle to re-win his parliamentary seat in the coming general election. The results also indicate there is a concerning trust deficit about the independence of the judiciary.

The Special Branch could become more transparent to develop more public confidence in the institution.
