Rudyard Kipling"
“When you're left wounded on Afganistan's plains and
the women come out to cut up what remains, Just roll to your rifle
and blow out your brains,
And go to your God like a soldier”
General Douglas MacArthur"
“We are not retreating. We are advancing in another direction.”
“It is fatal to enter any war without the will to win it.” “Old soldiers never die; they just fade away.
“The soldier, above all other people, prays for peace, for he must suffer and be the deepest wounds and scars of war.”
“May God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won't .” “The object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his.
“Nobody ever defended, there is only attack and attack and attack some more.
“It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived.
The Soldier stood and faced God
Which must always come to pass
He hoped his shoes were shining
Just as bright as his brass
"Step forward you Soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't
Because those of us who carry guns
Can't always be a saint."
I've had to work on Sundays
And at times my talk was tough,
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny
That wasn't mine to keep.
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep,
The Soldier squared his shoulders and said
And I never passed a cry for help
Though at times I shook with fear,
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand."
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod
As the Soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, you Soldier,
You've borne your burden well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."
Anwar slams leaders exploiting racial, religious sentiments - PMX's Hypocrisy
Friday, November 29, 2024
Malaysiakini : Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim today criticised leaders who exploit
racial and religious sentiments to draw public attention, describing
them as shallow and bereft of ideas. Anwar, who is also finance
minister, said that such individuals reflected a narrow mindset, driven
by intentions to sow hatred in Malaysia’s multiracial society. “Those who exploit religion and race are not limited to politicians but include businesspeople and academics.
Vijay47 : The only things missing were the MGR jig and the quote from the Thirukkural.
Otherwise, the speech reflects Anwar Ibrahim in all the glowing glory he hopes he represents. What shocks again is his brazen audacity in warning against racial and religious sentiments when he himself is the master who has elevated such attitudes to a fine art.
Your every action and government policy despite the “Semua anak saya” and variations thereof, Mr. Madani, are to encourage and embed the very discrimination you now piously preach against. Your Budget 2025 should be captured by a colossal monument lest future generations forget that we were once led by a man like Anwar Ibrahim.
Almost every page of that document showed how you were enthusiastically pouring OUR hard-earned money into Malay and Muslim causes while the concerns of the minority communities enjoyed peanuts.
And you revel in warning against racial and religious sentiments?
Turning to your speech itself, we see how your abject hypocrisy is matched by your craven cowardice. It is common knowledge to anyone that almost 99% of racist and discriminatory statements and demands are advanced by Malay-Muslim politicians and institutions. Yet your speech never once referred to these specific perpetrators and on the contrary, implied that the non-Malays were equally guilty.
You are too much of a coward to condemn the Malays, for fear that you will lose their support, a loss you desperately wish to avoid by any means. During all those many instances of racial and religious abuse and injustice, did you ever speak out against the actual agents of such excesses?
You are too much of that coward, and instead, painted a “one-size-fits-all” portrait as you did at the Putra Jaya Festival.
It was a good speech, Anwar Ibrahim. Listen to it often enough and who knows, some of its lessons might even rub off onto you.
Dr Suresh Kumar : One fanatic is calling out on another. You had a golden chance to stop the fanatics like Akmal when he created the KK Mart ruckus, but not a squeak from you when the country was literally burning.
The PAS fellas were and still are going on a rampage, still nothing from you. Why now? Actually when I saw the title of this piece, the first thing I was keen to know is, what crowd were you addressing. There is a reason why you are known as the chameleon.
