The Singaporean Prime Minister's Office made an announcement today. It has revealed the date of the transition of power to the next generation. Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will be stepping down on May 15, and handing over the reins to Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong. This marks the end of an era in Singapore.
Lee is just Singapore's the third ever Prime Minister. He has ruled the nation for almost 20 years. He's also the second one from his family to rule the island nation. Lee Hsien Loong's father, Lee Kuan Yew, was Singapore's first PM after it became self-governed. The Lee family is synonymous with Singapore's development.
The incoming PM Lawrence Wong has big shoes to fill.
