No Atheists
In A Foxhole

Rudyard Kipling

" “When you're left wounded on
Afganistan's plains and

the women come out to cut up what remains,
Just roll to your rifle

and blow out your brains,
And go to your God like a soldier”
General Douglas MacArthur

" “We are not retreating. We are advancing in another direction.”

“It is fatal to enter any war without the will to win it.”
“Old soldiers never die; they just fade away.
“The soldier, above all other people, prays for peace,
for he must suffer and be the deepest wounds and scars of war.”
“May God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won't .”
“The object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his.

“Nobody ever defended, there is only attack and attack and attack some more.
“It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died.
Rather we should thank God that such men lived.
The Soldier stood and faced God
Which must always come to pass
He hoped his shoes were shining
Just as bright as his brass
"Step forward you Soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't
Because those of us who carry guns
Can't always be a saint."
I've had to work on Sundays
And at times my talk was tough,
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny
That wasn't mine to keep.
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep,
The Soldier squared his shoulders and said
And I never passed a cry for help
Though at times I shook with fear,
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand."
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod
As the Soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, you Soldier,
You've borne your burden well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."

Group urges police reforms, says to not 'waste the deaths' of cops in Ulu Tiram
Sunday, May 19, 2024

Our very young fallen heroes

Malaysiakini : Rights group Citizen Against Enforced Disappearances (Caged) has urged Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail to not “waste the deaths” of two officers from the Ulu Tiram police station who fell victim in a recent pre-dawn attack.

Caged in a statement raised concern over what it described as a lack of public sympathy for the victims, but at the same time noted that reasons for apathy include the government’s failure to reform the system. The group said it honoured the victims of Ulu Tiram and appreciated them for their service to the nation.

“We express our condolences to their families. We vow to continue our quest to press for police reforms so that those in police uniforms will be respected as they should be,” said the group. “We call on Home Minister Saifuddin to do what every home minister since 2004 has failed to do. “We call on him to devise and publish plans to restore public confidence in the police force,” said the group.

Prominent cases

Among others, Caged cited prominent cases of enforced disappearances - Pastor Raymond Koh and Amri Che Mat - as well as a High Court verdict that ruled a 2011 shooting case involving a police officer as a homicide. On Jan 18, the Ipoh High Court ruled that 31-year-old P Kathir Oli’s death was a homicide and not self-defence, as the police previously claimed.

Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail

He was gunned down by a police officer outside a pub in Ipoh, Perak, on Sept 15, 2011. Caged pointed out that following the High Court verdict, Kathir’s family lawyers had twice written to the Attorney-General’s Chambers with a formal request for prosecution of the police officer.

“For 13 years, the police and the public prosecutor have failed the public. “The police maligned the name of the victim and failed to investigate and prosecute their own. “The public prosecutor either acquiesced or collaborated with the police,” said the group.

Steven Ong : First reform urgently needed is the implementaton of the IPCMC. The police must shows themselves as a respectful unit not liable to commit act of enforced disappearence. or death in custody.

Hence , how can we respect the police, when they themselves does not show respect to others? Hence this two policemen died without receiving full respects from all Malaysians.

TC : The rise of a extremist political party coincides with molotov, firebomb and so called lone wolf attacks. The army and police never learn and everything is normal and taken for granted.

Everyone has forgotten the attack on a army base in Perak 20years ago by a supposely another Islamic group. This Madani government is supposely the right hope for a more balanced and peaceful country....or is it ?

Anonymous_3f4b : What reform the system is Caged talking about what more police reforms? There is no reforms in the Madani Unity Government.

It is a tenuous relationship between diametrically opposed political parties in a marriage of convenience for short term political gains. It is more of a Reformati not Reformasi.

On Jan 10 last year, a coroner presiding over an inquest into Kathir’s death delivered an “open verdict” that meant no one was found to have to answer for his death.
