It was reported earlier today that police have detained Akmal upon his arrival in Kota Kinabalu this morning. Akmal confirmed the arrest on his Facebook page, saying he was held despite being scheduled to record his statement at the Dang Wangi police headquarters in Kuala Lumpur tomorrow.

OCT : There is a big difference in the way Akmal was treated compared to the two NM who was detained, prosecuted, sentenced, and fined within 24 hours. The serious damages caused by Akmal is more serious than the NM infractions. Akmal gets released after teh tarik session.

How cruel, unsympathetic and unfair to NM culprits? Bet you, nothing can or will happen to Akmal after his tej tarik session as he was defending race and religion. If you can't have proper words to say to resolve the situation, then just shut up. This runs against what even the Sarawak government and ministers are saying. They are calling for the arrest of Akmal for his actions. How can you expect Sarawak to support your Unity Government when you don't even listen to them. Again you are reading the situation on the ground wrongly.

How amazing that Dr Akmal the UMNO youth leader is helping the Police in trying to identify who the scumbag criminal is, who has been allowed to carry on with his reckless attempts to destabilise the economy, race relations, religious harmony and respect for the institution of the monarchy , all for the sake of a few socks.

Surreal but true and only in Malaysia. Talk about not seeing the elephant in the room. How painful it must be for the family of the Sabahan Ryan who was swiftly detained , charged and sentenced to serve 6 months in jail and given a fine because he made apparently mocking comments about the socks controversy.

Dr Akmal created the brouhaha but he is allowed to prance around arrogantly in Sabah, yet Ryan who deleted his comments 3 minutes later and who was doxxed and threatened is languishing in jail. Why the double standards and discrimination? The socks controversy is indeed laughable to all rational and fair minded people.

To wickedly see the Allah socks as an egregious insult to Islam when it is purely a subjective notion as others may see wearing Allah socks as a blessing and providing comfort and a sense of protection. Online search will find the Allah socks and other Islamic texts imprinted on them for sale. Clearly there is a demand for them.

Who is Dr Akmal, Anwar or any Muslim to judge? Isn’t this “ Fitnah “ and a terrible sin in Islam? Anwar is showing himself to be a weak and rudderless prime minister whose prime concern is to stay in power at all cost. He seems to be doing more concerned about UMNO than his own party PKR or Pakatan Harapan (PH).

Anwar thinks he can adapt to any political development because he does not have any firm principles. He will do deals with anyone to stay in power. If the political configurations change, Anwar will adapt accordingly. I would not be surprised if he forms a coalition with PAS, PN, UMNO, PKR, MCA and MIC if Madani collapses at the next general elections.

DAP will be left out and we will have BN 2.0. Reformati! Reformati! will be the battle cry of BN 2.0. Now is the time for reform minded parties with a multi-racial outlook to brainstorm to create a new party which does not have the baggage of the past. DAP irrevocably has been cast as a Chinese based party and despite having the highest number of MPs in PH, this is not reflected in ministerial appointments.

UMNO was given a disproportionate number of ministerial positions and even the DPM post given to a man having over 40 corruption charges. DAP has not been able to rein in people like Akmal thus reinforcing in its supporter’s minds that it has happily taken on the role of MCA 2.0.

They have been silent on a whole host of issues which challenge the Malay and Islamic supremacist mindset which seems to be pervasive even in Madani. Ideally DAP should merge with other progressive parties to form one big united opposition party committed to a justice, badly needed reforms and an emphasis on genuine equality and racial harmony.

Currently parties seem not to be able to eschew race and religion in their political calculus. They create division and a zero sum game. A paradigm shift is required to get us out of the rut we are in. Our plural nature must be seen as an opportunity for synergy, mutual benefit and growth.
