Rudyard Kipling"
āWhen you're left wounded on Afganistan's plains and
the women come out to cut up what remains, Just roll to your rifle
and blow out your brains,
And go to your God like a soldierā
General Douglas MacArthur"
āWe are not retreating. We are advancing in another direction.ā
āIt is fatal to enter any war without the will to win it.ā āOld soldiers never die; they just fade away.
āThe soldier, above all other people, prays for peace, for he must suffer and be the deepest wounds and scars of war.ā
āMay God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won't .ā āThe object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his.
āNobody ever defended, there is only attack and attack and attack some more.
āIt is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived.
The Soldier stood and faced God
Which must always come to pass
He hoped his shoes were shining
Just as bright as his brass
"Step forward you Soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't
Because those of us who carry guns
Can't always be a saint."
I've had to work on Sundays
And at times my talk was tough,
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny
That wasn't mine to keep.
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep,
The Soldier squared his shoulders and said
And I never passed a cry for help
Though at times I shook with fear,
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand."
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod
As the Soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, you Soldier,
You've borne your burden well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."
Vernacular schools: Drop the insults, let's talk over coffee, Rajiv tells Akmal
Monday, March 11, 2024
Malaysiakini : Bukit Gasing assemblyperson Rajiv Rishyakaran has told Umno Youth
chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Salleh that if he is sincere about national
unity, he should not sully debates by belittling those with different
views.
In a response to Akmalās swipe against former Penang deputy
chief minister P Ramasamy, Rajiv offered to buy Akmal a coffee and have
a chat over the hot topic of vernacular schools. āInsulting those with different views is certainly not the path towards national unity.
āBefore
shooting down decades of successful vernacular education, to which
might I point out, SJKC schools are the most multiracial schools today
compared to national schools (SK), why donāt you engage everyone in
dialogue?
āIf your motivation is to stir and rile up your supporters, showing
your racial credentials, then I guess youāll keep spewing this kind of
statements,ā said Rajiv (above) in a statement. He said that if Akmal was sincere about national unity, then a civil dialogue was the way forward.
āTalk to the political parties and NGOs who feel strongly about vernacular schools and understand where they are coming from. āThe responsibility of the success of this unity government to be the government for all Malaysians is equally on both of us.
RimauTongkatAli : People such as Akmal cannot be reasoned with as their sole platform is based on 2Rs. He will have nothing if the 2Rs are taken away and he would be jobless. Rajiv should not be wasting any good coffee on people like Akmal.
Aristo : Honestly why are our vernacular schools educating the Malays when we are thrown insults by arrogant Malays like Akmal and blaming our vwrnacular schools for dividing the country.
If itās true that his children are being educated in a Chinese school then they should be kicked out of the school as private funding vernacular schools shouldnāt be wasting our money on them.
Vijay47 : What kind of rubbish are you talking, Rajiv Rishyakaran, suggesting that you and Muhamad Akmal Saleh meet and ātalk over coffeeā? You should be aware that creatures such as this Muhamad Akmal Saleh are products of a Malay political system of strange habitat.
And you want to talk to him?
People like Muhamad Akmal Saleh survive only because he is part of a, yes, formidable, vicious, bullying political machine, not because of any inherent strength, integrity, and honour.
Take away his crutches, privileges and his quotas, he will be reduced to struggling bewilderedly on Chow Kit pavements just to live. And you want to talk to him?
Other than our Tunku, has there been a single Malay leader either side of the fence who was sincerely concerned with the wellbeing of a nation we all toiled to build?
I readily concede that Pasir Gudangās Hassan Abdul Karim is an occasional but welcome flower in an arid desert, and less often, perhaps Zaid Ibrahim. So who can you name? Anwar Ibrahim? Please, donāt make me laugh on a Monday morning.
By and large, Malay politicians have only two goings going for them. The first is to exploit almost every government project to see what they could rape for themselves despite loud cries of Bangsa dan Agama. Next quiz question ā Name me one poor Malay political leader, even those not flying to London for month-long vacations.
Their second specialty is to keep begging for more and more, an endless plea that the prime minister fulfills with much mercy and compassion. And if that fails, they can always supply ships to the Navy.
No, Rajiv Rishyakaran, one does not treat morally bankrupt politicians with kid gloves.
To do so would only encourage such uneducated, coarse creatures since they do not have the faculties to think and reason. Instead, show them the mailed fist and let them have a generous taste of it come what may.
I just cannot believe, Rajiv, that you want to have coffee with that Muhamad Akmal Saleh.
(Needless to say, this is the sanitized version!)
I agree with you, Rajiv Rishyakaran, that you should have coffee with Muhamad Akmal Saleh, that up-and-coming Malay statesman who is trying so hard to foster a truly united Malaysia under the able leadership of our beloved Anwar Ibrahim.
Not only that, you should even have lunch and dinner with him.
It is my hope that this suggestion towards racial harmony does not suffer the fate of deletion that my two earlier posts earned. One after 8 likes.
