Truly this Ulama should learn from the Christians on how to fast Matthew 6:16 - When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites (PAS) do, for they disfigure their faces to show others they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 17 But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, 18 so that it will not be obvious to others that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

Malaysiakini : The PAS ulama wing has accused Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek of
triggering an āunnecessaryā polemic by assuring that school canteens
will continue operating during Ramadan.
According to its leader
Ahmad Yahaya, the ministry should instead focus on educating Muslim
students about the importance of fasting and their non-Muslim
counterparts to respect the practice.
āThis can happen in a
harmonious way without a directive for canteens to remain open when
(Muslim) students are observing the Ramadan month.

mean that we are stopping the non-Muslim students from eating during the
day, but it is also a form of āeducationā for them to respect the

Just another guy : Iām Christian ā¦ I practice fasting too (less advertised but yes we do)ā¦ I regularly sit through mealtimes observing my obligations never expecting others with me to not eat tooā¦ and I would never expect children to fast along with meā¦ so pls, bring your polemic elsewhereā¦ let the canteen stay open for the kids to eat.

YellowGopher7568 : A small advice to the PAS ulamas, if you think that Muslims are so easily influenced to break their fast by seeing people eating, then don't fast or force children to fast.
Do you know that the Christians fast for 48 days during lent which falls between ash Wednesday and Good (which currently is being observed). They don't turn night into day by feasting.
They are not heard complaining, only you people complain. Absolutely no self control.

Your Ramadan fasting month has not even seen a day pass nor witnessed the new sun rise and already you are showing a streak of viciousness any person of any religion would view with total abhorrence.
By some perhaps divine coincidence, the Christians are in the midst of observing the period of Lent, where they attempt some form of penitence for sins committed and seek a reconciliation with Christ.
Our priests, unfailingly and repeatedly, remind the faithful that this is especially the time when we should adhere to Godās words, beg forgiveness, and ālove our neighbours as we love ourselvesā.
And you, Ahmad Yahaya, take pot-shots at the Ramadan availability of canteens for school-children. School-children!
Why is it that many Muslim political leaders measure Islamic piety by how much non-Muslims are threatened, harassed, and bullied by people like you? Surely your Islamic foundation is more, much more, than such base human instincts? How fulfilling it would be for politicians of your kind to follow the Muslim virtues you preach so loudly about.

PurpleGopher1703 : Should go both ways then . This lebai must think it is only him who fasts. Let's make it a deal for canteen to shut everytime someone fast. Hindus fast many days a year and Buddhists too but no one makes a fuss about it because it is a personal choice.
