Rudyard Kipling"
āWhen you're left wounded on Afganistan's plains and
the women come out to cut up what remains, Just roll to your rifle
and blow out your brains,
And go to your God like a soldierā
General Douglas MacArthur"
āWe are not retreating. We are advancing in another direction.ā
āIt is fatal to enter any war without the will to win it.ā āOld soldiers never die; they just fade away.
āThe soldier, above all other people, prays for peace, for he must suffer and be the deepest wounds and scars of war.ā
āMay God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won't .ā āThe object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his.
āNobody ever defended, there is only attack and attack and attack some more.
āIt is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived.
The Soldier stood and faced God
Which must always come to pass
He hoped his shoes were shining
Just as bright as his brass
"Step forward you Soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't
Because those of us who carry guns
Can't always be a saint."
I've had to work on Sundays
And at times my talk was tough,
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny
That wasn't mine to keep.
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep,
The Soldier squared his shoulders and said
And I never passed a cry for help
Though at times I shook with fear,
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand."
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod
As the Soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, you Soldier,
You've borne your burden well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."
'Mabuk ke apa?' Akmal swipes at Ramasamy on vernacular schools

Kaki Ketum
Malaysiakini : Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Salleh has questioned the logic
behind espousing a "Bangsa Malaysia" while insisting on vernacular
schools.
In a rebuttal against former Penang deputy chief minister
P Ramasamy, Akmal said such arguments are why racial unity can't be
fostered. "You say your party is multiracial and wants to form a Bangsa Malaysia, but on education you want there to be separation?
"Politicians such as yourself are why unity between the races can't be fostered all this while. "Kamu mabuk ke apa? (Are you drunk or what?)," he posted on Facebook last night.
āMabuk ke apaā is a common Malay colloquialism to say that someone is either confused or not making sense. However, implying drunkenness is also a common racist stereotype against Indians. Bangsa Malaysia commonly refers to a vision in which people view themselves as Malaysians first, instead of by race.
P.Dev Anand Pillai : Dear Akmal, why not find out and question why some of your party members themselves are sending their children to Chinese vernacular schools? Perhaps they know and see something which you don't?
Please note that if the Non Malays had not ensured that mother tongue education was made available to them, the entire language, culture and practices of the Non Malays would have been systematically wiped out by now. The Chinese vernacular schools have been very steady and systematic in their teaching and discipline of their students.
When we had the missionaries run their schools here, it was manned by a great teaching force which were given the task to maintain good discipline without any outside interference or that from the clergy of any faith.
But if you have a habit of constantly experimenting and tinkering with an education system which was once known for its meritocracy, you will only have and create mediocracy! so if the vernacular schools are to be shut down, then why not in the same manner shut down the Mara Junior Science Colleges as well which also freely practices race based entry.
Remember, the Federal Constitution is very clear on the Rights in Respect of Education as stated in Art 12 (2) so it will be best to see what can be done to go back to the stellar system that we once had before where we had Public Exams at various stages of our schooling to test our ability and where we allowed Teachers a free hand to run their schools instead of bickering about which school we should shut down because we don't like the outcome of our current education system!
Vijay47 : (I had just posted a rather lengthy (Pardon me! As Tony Pua would say) comment on the Rajiv Rishyakaran article and in fact had begun another one on that Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek trying to portray herself as some statesman but playing to the Malay extremist gallery. All this writing is tiring.
So I posting again the earlier piece which I believe is equally relevant here. Both original postings met a fate worse than death.)
What kind of rubbish are you talking, Rajiv Rishyakaran, suggesting that you and Muhamad Akmal Saleh meet and ātalk over coffeeā? You should be aware that creatures such as this Muhamad Akmal Saleh are products of a Malay political system of strange habitat.
And you want to talk to him?
People like Muhamad Akmal Saleh survive only because he is part of a, yes, formidable, vicious, bullying political machine, not because of any inherent strength, integrity, and honour. Take away his crutches, privileges and his quotas, he will be reduced to struggling bewilderedly on Chow Kit pavements just to live. And you want to talk to him?
Other than our Tunku, has there been a single Malay leader either side of the fence who was sincerely concerned with the wellbeing of a nation we all toiled to build? I readily concede that Pasir Gudangās Hassan Abdul Karim is an occasional but welcome flower in an arid desert, and less often, perhaps Zaid Ibrahim. So who can you name?
Anwar Ibrahim? Please, donāt make me laugh on a Monday morning.
By and large, Malay politicians have only two goings going for them. The first is to exploit almost every government project to see what they could rape for themselves despite loud cries of Bangsa dan Agama.
Next quiz question ā Name me one poor Malay political leader, even those not flying to London for month-long vacations.
Their second specialty is to keep begging for more and more, an endless plea that the prime minister fulfills with much mercy and compassion. And if that fails, they can always supply ships to the Navy.
No, Rajiv Rishyakaran, one does not treat morally bankrupt politicians with kid gloves. To do so would only encourage such uneducated, coarse creatures since they do not have the faculties to think and reason. Instead, show them the mailed fist and let them have a generous taste of it come what may.
I just cannot believe, Rajiv, that you want to have coffee with that Muhamad Akmal Saleh.
(Needless to say, this is the sanitized version!) I doubt very much that Prof. P. Ramasamy is mabuk.
I don't think he takes ketum.
GrayPigeon2115 : You call yourself an UMMO Youth Leader? You don't behave like one, you don't talk like one and all you are just a cheap damn racist to the core!!!! It's 100% with people like is that there is No Unity with Malaysia with your racist Rant !!!
