Malaysiakini : Personaliti media sosial Nur Sajat Kamaruzzaman menyertai
pertandingan ratu cantik mak nyah Miss Mardi Gras 2024 di Australia,
esok.
Bekas usahawan kosmetik 39 tahun yang lari ke Australia itu
berkata, dia akan menggayakan pakaian kebangsaan buatannya dalam
pertandingan tersebut. “Pakaian kebangsaan saya, sudah 60 peratus siap.
“Diilhamkan daripada kerajaan Melayu Langkasuka Kedah,” katanya dalam satu hantaran di Instagram. Langkasuka adalah kerajaan Melayu kuno di utara semenanjung Malaysia dan selatan Thailand. Sajat memilih pakaian batik dengan selendang dan hiasan badan berwarna emas.
Miss Mardi Gras adalah pertandingan ratu cantik transgender yang dianjurkan setiap tahun. Pusingan akhir acara itu akan berlangsung esok dan pemenang akan
dibawa berarak pada minggu berikutnya sempena sambutan Mardi Gras,
Sydney.
Pada Feb 2022, Sajat memaklumkan telah menukar status
jantina kepada wanita di Australia, setelah bertahun-tahun mendakwa
seorang khunsa. Dia melarikan diri ke Australia bagi mengelak pertuduhan atas kesalahan syariah kerana berpakaian seperti wanita.
Dia
didakwa mengikut Seksyen 10(a) Enakmen Jenayah Syariah (Negeri
Selangor) 1995 atas tuduhan menghina atau sehingga menyebabkan agama
Islam dipandang hina. Dia didakwa melakukan perbuatan itu pada
majlis bacaan Yasin dan solat hajat pada 23 Februari 2018 di premis
kecantikannya, di Seksyen 16, Shah Alam.
Sebelum ini dilaporkan
bahawa dia telah memohon status pelarian dari pejabat Suruhanjaya Tinggi
Pertubuhan Bangsa-Bangsa Bersatu bagi Pelarian (UNHCR) di Bangkok.
Dia
dilaporkan berpindah ke Australia pada Oktober 2021 dan meminta suaka
dan kewarganegaraan untuk mengelakkan dirinya berdepan pendakwaan di
Malaysia.
