In a statement, Tiong cited the allegations circulated on WhatsApp, purportedly by an individual claiming to be a retired Health Ministry deputy director-general who served under several non-Muslim ministers. Tiong said while he would typically ignore such rumours, this time, the message was not only blatantly false but also an attempt to incite racial hate.

“It had become too viral to go unaddressed and as it directly smears the country’s governance, it is necessary to address it to prevent any more people from mistaking it for truth,” he said.   Among others, Tiong said he was accused of not only eating pork and drinking alcohol in the office but also forcing the clean-up on Muslim cleaners or staff.

He also noted the anonymous individual had claimed to be informed of the allegations by current ministry staff. “I cannot be sure of who is making up this rumour. But I urge the ministry’s staff to come forward to inform me in case the accuser has been abusing the comments of any civil servant. “I am not afraid to be ridiculed for saying it, but the fact is, my office hasn’t got to hire any cleaners so far,” said Tiong.

The move is the typical one adopted by extremists especially within the Opposition to keep Race, Religion, and Ruler blazing on the front-burner. The veracity of the accusations they make is of no consequence, the idea is to keep so-called sensitive controversies.

With his blunt approach, Tiong King Sing needs to be brought down. He appears to be totally indifferent even contemptuous to the ketuanan mantra. He speaks his mind and anyone who strays into his ministerial crosshairs gets it right in the jugular. There is also that recent matter where he charged into the Immigration wing of KLIA at dead of night and commented of alleged procedural irregularities in the processing of foreign visitors. Immigration for its part, made its rebuttal.

After the initial uproar, nothing seems to be come out of this incident. Just another day at the office? It will also be noted that almost without fail, there would be weekly allegations of purported disrespect to the inevitable Three Rs. The heroes of this campaign even seem to adhere to a duty roster, taking turns to make fresh charges against non-Muslims.

The details themselves do not matter and are generally inane, ranging from the length of one’s clothing, attendance at rock concerts, refusal to participate in irrelevant solidarity circuses; no doubt soon to include how one parts one’s hair. Incidentally, if Tiong indeed consumes pork or any food and drink of his preference at his office, what of it? His choice, his food. And further, Government offices have not been classified as places of worship.

The objective is simple enough - to stroke alarm amongst their supporters that the Huns are at the gates. Unfortunately, their audience seem so naïve and gullible as to be unable to distinguish wheat from chaff, fact from fiction. I wonder what new charges await us on Monday. In the meantime, nothing seems to happen to these purveyors of falsehood, hatred, and discord. Also just another day at the office?

And the sultan of Selangor states that NM should emulate MM of none interference in other religions. Maybe the statement he made could be a bit biased since he is the head of Islam in his state. apanama is back : Minister Tiong, someone is not happy with your down to earth, straightforwardness, honestly, calling a spade a spade and outspokenness. These kind of traits are not usually well-liked by people, especially those like to 'makan sampai kenyang.' However, stick to your guns Tiong.

Always be truthful. People will support you, not the bigots. Whenever your touch someone's raw nerve, they will cook up something to put you in trouble. In this land, pork and alcohol are MORE dangerous than corruption, child marriage, polygamy etc. My foot!
