Rudyard Kipling"
āWhen you're left wounded on Afganistan's plains and
the women come out to cut up what remains, Just roll to your rifle
and blow out your brains,
And go to your God like a soldierā
General Douglas MacArthur"
āWe are not retreating. We are advancing in another direction.ā
āIt is fatal to enter any war without the will to win it.ā āOld soldiers never die; they just fade away.
āThe soldier, above all other people, prays for peace, for he must suffer and be the deepest wounds and scars of war.ā
āMay God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won't .ā āThe object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his.
āNobody ever defended, there is only attack and attack and attack some more.
āIt is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived.
The Soldier stood and faced God
Which must always come to pass
He hoped his shoes were shining
Just as bright as his brass
"Step forward you Soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't
Because those of us who carry guns
Can't always be a saint."
I've had to work on Sundays
And at times my talk was tough,
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny
That wasn't mine to keep.
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep,
The Soldier squared his shoulders and said
And I never passed a cry for help
Though at times I shook with fear,
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand."
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod
As the Soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, you Soldier,
You've borne your burden well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."
Govt monitoring US sanctions bill against Hamas supporters
Friday, November 03, 2023
Malaysiakini : Govt monitoring US sanctions bill against Hamas supporters. The government is currently monitoring the decision of the United States House of Representatives to pass a bill regarding restrictions on foreign entities that support Hamas and the Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine on Wednesday.
Foreign Minister Zambry Abdul Kadir said the ministry will thoroughly examine the contents of the bill before taking further action, according to Bernama.
āThe situation in Palestine has worsened and as of today, the death toll reported is over 8,700 people and this is highly disappointing.
Moreover, the number of people who have lost their homes or are displaced has reached millions and this is extremely saddening.
āOn one side, continuous bombings are taking place, and on the other side, they are not pursuing the best path to resolve the issue.
Instead, they are further complicating the situation, making it difficult to achieve a positive outcome that would allow us to immediately halt these attacks and facilitate the entry of humanitarian assistance,ā he said.
Vijay47 : I would comment on just two aspects of this possibly unfavourable gale blowing our way, and both, while in divergent direction, would be not particularly disturbing to Malaysia. First, come what may, Foreign Minister Zambry Abdul Kadir has assured us that the Madani government will study Americaās Sanctions Bill before ātaking further actionā.
It must be remembered that the Bill is targeted only against those rendering āfinancial, material, or technological supportā to Hamas and other bad guys. Fortunately, Malaysia is in no position to offer anyone any of these ā heck, we donāt even have enough chickens for our own people!
What form could the ministerās āfurther actionā take?
Quite possibly, our Scopene submarines, both of them, would be unleashed towards the US Seventh Fleet. And if that doesnāt terrify Biden enough, we could dispatch our Littoral Combat Ships, all two and a half of them, to fire a shot or two across the bow of aircraft-carrier USS Ronald Reagan.
Boy, that should make the Americans say āUncleā quick enough!
The sanctions themselves? We do not have anything to fear in this regard. Honestly! That is because Malaysia has so far restricted itself to only planning to send humanitarian aid to the Palestinians who are expected to swell from Zambry Abdul Kadirās present 14 million to about 23 million in the next couple of weeks.
Not counting the Indonesians and Bangladeshis.
And all that fiery talk from the Wearer of the Scarf? The CIA, NSA, FBI, and KFC are savvy enough to know that it is all hot air to bolster his declining support from the rakyat. Already we can see that his fervor has been diminishing of late and will shortly be a thing of the past and hardly a joy forever.
So relax, folks, you can go back to your nasi kandar - the halal variety.
DonGetMeWrong : No Vijay47, Malaysia has pledged RM100 millions to Hamas/Palestine. Think we are off the hook?
Vijay47 : Ooops!
If the RM100 million is for the Palestinians, no problem. But if for Hamas, we are bungkused.
Man on the Silver Mountain : Love this. Zambry studying the bill, we having not enough chicken, our LCS firing across USS Ronald Reaganās bow, itās USS Gerard Ford btw but point taken, America cries uncle, I am on the floor laughing now, and Zambryās figure spiking to 23 million. The clincher must be the dig on the halal nasi kandar, the writer polite enough not wanting to mention the b word.
