According to the Education
Ministry, this was after discussions were carried out between the school
management and parents of the affected students. "Under ministry
guidelines, students are allowed to wear traditional clothes that are
decent and suitable when attending a culture or arts-related event.
"In
regard to recent news reports, the school took proactive measures by
holding talks with parents and students,ā the ministry said in a
statement today. It also highlighted that improvements were made to the planned activities and the arising matter was settled amicably.
Yesterday, it was reported
that aside from imposing restrictions on students' dressing, the school
had also disallowed Indian students from wearing sarees to the event
and told those wearing the holy thread on their wrists to remove them. "The students were allowed to wear their respective traditional clothes, as well as the traditional clothes of other races.
"Permission
was also granted for them to wear accessories like bangles, chains, and
accessories to match the traditional clothes.
AdiviPanthi : This is also a coverup for the Abim appointed Minister of Education. How come headscarves were worn, when holy threads of Hindus were told to be removed.
Gen2 : An answer that does not answer anything. We want details. What actually happened. Did the HM admit his mistake? Was an apolgy tendered? Is the PTA satisfied?
ProMalaysia : No discipline action taken against that little Napoleon/s who started this nonsense in the first place?? This is NOT the first time where minorities in government schools was bullied... any wonders parents who can afford would prefers to send their children to private or SRJK Chinese / Tamil school???
Anon Two : Racist behaviour is allowed and not punished? How can such ignorant and intolerant people be allowed to teach? Can anyone be optimistic about the future of this country? Only if they have their heads in the sand.
Anonymous_47029368 : Itu je ? So nobody did anything wrong ???
Maimun : Settled??? What action taken to the idiots who made the decision? Any counselling? Any reprimand? Any communication to all schools? Action?????
Jarchin : Education Minister, just what do you mean by traditional clothes which are decent. Who are you to evaluate decency of any traditional clothes? Do you even know the meaning of the word "traditional" or what it connotes. Looks like your headmasters need more educating than students.
realkeluargamalaysia : DNAA. The racist little Napoleon who should have lost his/her job for such an unconstitutional decision just gets away scot free. This means other racist little Napoleons across the country are encouraged to carry on or be even worse than before.
MarioT : Make it look like a non issue. As usual, no one to be blamed. The bigots and racists who caused the segregation, go unpunished? They are detrimental to a multi racial country.
World Citizen : So what do you mean by settled? Any action taken against the racist teachers? Any orientation for these so called teachers? Any comments from the Minister of Education? Or is she as useless as ever? Where do we go from here? Donāt you people feel any sense of shame to just come out with a statement saying the matter is settled?
BluePanther4725 : The school principal must be punished. The Education Ministry is letting these bullies and little napoleons get away with their wrongdoings all the time. There must be consequences for their actions. This should not be another no action, file only case.
Nash : Settled? Ok so what was the action taken? Who was the responsible for giving out the 'ban' in the first place? Headmistress or some teachers who drafted it first? What they faced? Edu Ministry, need to have all the details la. Just saying 'settled' is insufficient. You asnnine cretins.
PurpleKijang9104 : This is expected so now give the Headmistrees / Headmaster a promotion to higher grade for showing more Islamic values in her / his thoughts. Anything to do with the special race, the matters are always SETTLED AMICABLY because Chairman of Parent-Teacher Association is always a Malay.
6. "Permission was also granted for them to wear accessories like bangles, chains, and accessories to match the traditional clothes," the ministry added..
In my opinion, this statement is insulting and outrageous.
Koel : Send the staff, principal, teachers, etc for diversity training and re-education, Education Ministry. They are a disgrace to the country and to education. At the very least do that instead of leaving these bullies to continue their nonsense when you are no longer monitoring them. The students end up being the victims of these misguided types.
Noor M : Its all about religion, some of these so call schools administrators donāt understand how to differentiate culture and religion. How can an educator ask a a student to remove the holy thread/string to be removed?
