Rudyard Kipling"
āWhen you're left wounded on Afganistan's plains and
the women come out to cut up what remains, Just roll to your rifle
and blow out your brains,
And go to your God like a soldierā
General Douglas MacArthur"
āWe are not retreating. We are advancing in another direction.ā
āIt is fatal to enter any war without the will to win it.ā āOld soldiers never die; they just fade away.
āThe soldier, above all other people, prays for peace, for he must suffer and be the deepest wounds and scars of war.ā
āMay God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won't .ā āThe object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his.
āNobody ever defended, there is only attack and attack and attack some more.
āIt is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived.
The Soldier stood and faced God
Which must always come to pass
He hoped his shoes were shining
Just as bright as his brass
"Step forward you Soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't
Because those of us who carry guns
Can't always be a saint."
I've had to work on Sundays
And at times my talk was tough,
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny
That wasn't mine to keep.
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep,
The Soldier squared his shoulders and said
And I never passed a cry for help
Though at times I shook with fear,
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand."
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod
As the Soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, you Soldier,
You've borne your burden well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."
Vijay47 : Hamzah Zainuddin, quite obviously, the recent election successes enjoyed by Perikatan Nasional has gone to your head and confused you further. I presume, sir, that you are not a law graduate of our local public universities. Then again, you might be.
If you had cared to read properly the grounds upon which the Muhyiddin Yassin charges were nullified, you would have realised, no doubt with considerable difficulty, that the question of āselective prosecutionā does not come into the legal picture at all.
The judge decided as he did on the grounds that āthat the charges were defective and not in line with the Criminal Procedure Codeā. Put simply, the Prosecution walked into court with a poorly prepared case and thus the Judge threw it out.
So how did you then conclude that it was āselective prosecutionā.
Keeping in line with your syllogistic gymnastics, would you also allege that every case where your colleagues were acquitted was evidence of selective prosecution? And paradoxically, that where they may have been found guilty proved that the charges and prosecution were proper and in accordance with the law?
Perhaps you are conceding that Najib Razak was justifiably found guilty and sent to jail.
Yeah, sure. Everyone can indulge in argumentative acrobatics.
Malaysiakini : Perikatan Nasional secretary-general Hamzah Zainudin wants the
attorney-general to review all criminal cases brought against the
coalitionās leaders. This comes following the Kuala Lumpur High
Court decision this morning to quash four power abuse charges against
former prime minister and PN chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin.
āBased
on the KL High Court decision today, I urge the attorney-general to
review all the selective prosecutions brought upon Bersatu and PN
leaders and withdraw all the charges,ā he said on Facebook. The statement came shortly after the Kuala Lumpur High Court allowed the former prime ministerās striking-out application. Judge Muhammad Jamil Hussin ruled that the charges were defective and not in line with the Criminal Procedure Code.
According to Hamzah (above),
the ruling proved that the Pakatan Harapan-BN government had abused its
power to get at PN leaders and called on the people to reject the
federal administration. āThe court decision has proven that the
Harapan-BN government practised revenge politics and oppression by
making up frivolous accusations and abusing their power to charge PN
leaders in court,ā he said.
Muhyiddin had in March claimed
trial to four counts of abuse of power and three money laundering
charges involving RM232.5 million. The criminal case is linked to the
Jana Wibawa programme.
