Sarang Burung Net : Ramai yang tak tahu Kelantan pernah jadi pusat pelacuran terbesar, digelar sebagai ‘Paris of Malaya’.
Siapa
sangka Kelantan yang digelar sebagai Negeri Serambi Mekah ini pernah
menjadi pusat pelacuran terbesar di Tanah Melayu. Mungkin korang
terkejut dengan kenyataan ini, tetapi sebenarnya ia benar-benar berlaku
pada tahun 1950-an.
Tidak dinafikan pengajian ilmu agama dan
sekolah pondok di sana pada masa itu sangat berkembang pesat tetapi
pelacuran pada masa itu juga berleluasa sehingga Kelantan digelar
sebagai Paris of Malaya. Jadi, kenapa ia digelar sebegitu? Mari kami
huraikan dengan lebih panjang mengenai topik ini.
Pada awal 1950-an, dilaporkan pusat pelacuran di Kelantan sangat berleluasa, sehingga ada antara pelacur ini yang dilatih seawal usia 12 tahun. Mereka ini bukan sahaja berasal dari Kelantan malah, seluruh Semenanjung Tanah Melayu (kini Malaysia). Mesti korang tertanya-tanya macam mana boleh muncul para pelacur ini? Haaa… gejala ini terjadi kerana perkahwinan bawah umur mengakibatkan perceraian pada usia muda yang mendorong mereka ke lembah pelacuran.

Diberi nama Paris of Malaya kerana pada masa itu Paris juga digelar sebagai kota pelacur, tetapi orang Paris pada masa itu sangat marah apabila disamakan dengan Kelantan. Mereka menyatakan bandar Paris masih menjadi bandar yang mempunyai tinggi budaya malah, kalau nak borak pasal kota pelacur, London lagi hebat.
