Rudyard Kipling"
“When you're left wounded on Afganistan's plains and
the women come out to cut up what remains, Just roll to your rifle
and blow out your brains,
And go to your God like a soldier”
General Douglas MacArthur"
“We are not retreating. We are advancing in another direction.”
“It is fatal to enter any war without the will to win it.” “Old soldiers never die; they just fade away.
“The soldier, above all other people, prays for peace, for he must suffer and be the deepest wounds and scars of war.”
“May God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won't .” “The object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his.
“Nobody ever defended, there is only attack and attack and attack some more.
“It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived.
The Soldier stood and faced God
Which must always come to pass
He hoped his shoes were shining
Just as bright as his brass
"Step forward you Soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't
Because those of us who carry guns
Can't always be a saint."
I've had to work on Sundays
And at times my talk was tough,
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny
That wasn't mine to keep.
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep,
The Soldier squared his shoulders and said
And I never passed a cry for help
Though at times I shook with fear,
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand."
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod
As the Soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, you Soldier,
You've borne your burden well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."
Malaysiakini : The daughter of jailed former premier Najib Razak, Nooryana Najwa,
has called on the Attorney-General's Chambers to "do the right thing"
and drop six corruption charges against her father and former Treasury
secretary-general Mohd Irwan Serigar Abdullah.
This follows the AGC's statement that it is investigating
the alleged leak of a 2019 document related to the charges under
Section 409 of the Penal Code for breach of trust amounting to RM6.6
billion in government funds involving payments to International
Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC).
"The 12-page internal memo
goes into great detail of why there was no case at all and that my
father and Irwan did not commit any wrongdoing over the IPIC settlement. "What was revealed in the leaked memo is indeed shocking," Nooryana (above) said in a Facebook post.
Former Treasury secretary-general Mohd Irwan Serigar Abdullah
Among others, she noted the alleged document revealed how the AGC's
own prosecution team had concluded that the six charges were
"non-starters and do not even meet the minimum requirement or threshold
to even be brought to court".
Grave abuse
Further,
she said the alleged document also revealed the AGC had interviewed 138
witnesses, and not one of their statements was favourable to the
prosecutor's case. "I note that my father was charged for this
case in October 2018 and that the case has never gone for a hearing ever
since as the prosecutors have repeatedly asked the courts to delay the
case.
OCT : Najib's daughter has no locus standi to ask AGC to drop the charges. It is up to the judge to decide. Let it play out in the court. If AGC cannot prove beyond doubt, then there is no need to get worried, agitated and angry. NR will be set free.
She has no right to accuse TT about his failure to recall his memory as her father did the same throughout the trial. Her father has gone to the extent to say white is black and vice versa. Her father had more selective memory than TT. NR's daughter is about to give birth.
She shouldn't be stressed up. Her mother is going over to see her. Do take care of your own health and leave the legal matters to the court to decide. AGC will never listen to your advice as AGC has a reputation and image to protect.
Cogito Ergo Sum : Your father has been branded “a national disgrace” by the second highest court in the country. It is a stigma he can never wash away. Between Tommy Thomas and this new found memo, the general public, with the exception of your family and about 50 supporters, believe in the former AG.
And please be reminded that Najib is still a convicted criminal, serving out a 12-year sentence. You should be ashamed of your family name instead of going round begging for charges to be dropped.
You should be making amends by doing charitable works among the Malays, who have suffered most from your father’s kleptocratic proclivities. And that’s in the plural. Now please, stop making a fool of yourself and family name.
Vijay47 : She’s back!
I cannot understand this fervent urging for the 6 charges against pater Najib Razak to be dropped just because “there was no case at all and that my father and Irwan did not commit any wrongdoing over the IPIC settlement.”
One would have thought that the charges against the duo being so weak, it would be a god-sent if the Attorney General continues with the case. That would accord the Defence to valiantly slay all that the Prosecution may dare to lay before the Court.
An “unheard case”, like that which Muhyiddin Yassin seems to believe he enjoys, does not quite bring matters to a definitive close; it leaves behind that lingering doubt of “Perhaps he would have been found guilty if only the AGC had better wit to frame better charges.”
Take on the full hearing, go the whole hog, and flush with victory, Najib Razak could then proudly claim “I faced the best the Prosecution could offer, and I live to tell the tale!”
Shafee Abdullah, why bother with Jonathan Laidlaw, King’s Counsel? After all, you have Nooryana Najwa AC. That’s Agong’s Counsel.
