Rudyard Kipling"
āWhen you're left wounded on Afganistan's plains and
the women come out to cut up what remains, Just roll to your rifle
and blow out your brains,
And go to your God like a soldierā
General Douglas MacArthur"
āWe are not retreating. We are advancing in another direction.ā
āIt is fatal to enter any war without the will to win it.ā āOld soldiers never die; they just fade away.
āThe soldier, above all other people, prays for peace, for he must suffer and be the deepest wounds and scars of war.ā
āMay God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won't .ā āThe object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his.
āNobody ever defended, there is only attack and attack and attack some more.
āIt is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived.
The Soldier stood and faced God
Which must always come to pass
He hoped his shoes were shining
Just as bright as his brass
"Step forward you Soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't
Because those of us who carry guns
Can't always be a saint."
I've had to work on Sundays
And at times my talk was tough,
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny
That wasn't mine to keep.
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep,
The Soldier squared his shoulders and said
And I never passed a cry for help
Though at times I shook with fear,
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand."
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod
As the Soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, you Soldier,
You've borne your burden well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."
Malaysiakini : Umno has urged DAP not to field its former publicity secretary Tony
Pua as a candidate in the upcoming state polls if they wish for the
coalition government to last.
This comes after Puaās remarks labelling BN and Umno as ācorruptā at last night's DAP Petaling Jaya fundraising dinner. Umno
secretary-general Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, in his Facebook post this
morning, said he had sent a protest message to DAPās top leadership on
Puaās comments.
āAfter all, he (Pua) is still daydreaming until he
has forgotten that the government today is not a Pakatan Harapan
government but a grand coalition government of BN, Harapan, Gabungan
Parti Sarawak (GPS), Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) and Warisan, which
comprises 19 political parties.
āWhat he said only highlighted how shallow of a person he is,ā Asyraf said. Last
night, Pua had reportedly urged Harapan supporters to prove doubters
that āa multiracial party that is clean and not corruptā could do better
āthan corrupt coalitions like BN, Umno and Bersatuā.
āThatās what
we want to prove while we have the five-year opportunity to showcase
the difference. If weāre successful, Iām confident that in four years,
at the next general election, we will receive even greater support from
the people. āAnd by we, I mean Harapan,ā the former Damansara MP said.
MS : My comment elsewhere as it relates to Lokeās response to Pua.
Too bad Loke, you canāt put the toothpaste back in the tube. Much as youād like to distance yourself and the party from Pua, the truth about UMNO and itās dalliance with bigotry and corruption is as eternal as the sun and the moon.
While I understand Puaās petulance and his willingness to step out of the reservation as nothing more than a reminder to the party of its philosophical moorings , your choice of language confirms my suspicion that you are continuing where the MCA left off.
But that aside, the coming state polls will finally reveal which way the Malays in general want the country to go.
They will make their bed and lie in it regardless of what the minorities say or how they try to influence them.
Puaās remarks are merely designed to remind them that there is a corruption-free option open to them in the hazy and pretty uncertain future.
UB40 : Keep your hands off DAP matters. Donāt sibuk2 telling dap what to do. Umno must appreciate what dap is doing by giving umno lifeline as this party lost badly in last election. So shut up.
Vent : I may not be a fan of Tony Pua but I'm a voter.who will decide whom to vote for. But just who is UMNO to direct DAP on whom to field? That UMNO is corrupt is only stating the obvious truth. Loke he should bury his head in the mud in shame.
He forgets that without TP's (and Clare Rewcastle Brown's) relentless pursuit of the MDB imbroglio PH wouldnt even have won GE14 and by extension given Loke his position in the UG ultimately. As for the evil old man he plainly feared TP more than he hated his guts.
DAP 'mudah lupa'! Seems like Loke is even more shallow and opportunistic than Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki and Isham Jalil in their pathetic remarks about Pua. I for one will only vote āa multiracial party that is clean and not corruptā unlike "BN, Umno and Bersatuā. Loke cannot dissuade me. As for AWD IJ who cares?
