Rudyard Kipling"
āWhen you're left wounded on Afganistan's plains and
the women come out to cut up what remains, Just roll to your rifle
and blow out your brains,
And go to your God like a soldierā
General Douglas MacArthur"
āWe are not retreating. We are advancing in another direction.ā
āIt is fatal to enter any war without the will to win it.ā āOld soldiers never die; they just fade away.
āThe soldier, above all other people, prays for peace, for he must suffer and be the deepest wounds and scars of war.ā
āMay God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won't .ā āThe object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his.
āNobody ever defended, there is only attack and attack and attack some more.
āIt is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived.
The Soldier stood and faced God
Which must always come to pass
He hoped his shoes were shining
Just as bright as his brass
"Step forward you Soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't
Because those of us who carry guns
Can't always be a saint."
I've had to work on Sundays
And at times my talk was tough,
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny
That wasn't mine to keep.
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep,
The Soldier squared his shoulders and said
And I never passed a cry for help
Though at times I shook with fear,
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand."
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod
As the Soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, you Soldier,
You've borne your burden well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."
Memali incident weaponised against Hadi after signing Dr M's proclamation By Malaysiakini Team
Tuesday, May 16, 2023
Malaysiakini : The 1985 Memali incident - which claimed 18 lives - is being
weaponised on social media to attack PAS and its president, Abdul Hadi
Awang.
This comes after Hadi and other PASā top leaders signed a pro-Malay proclamation being championed by Dr Mahathir Mohamad. The
Memali incident refers to a stand-off between the supporters of PAS
member and preacher, Ibrahim Mahmud, better known as Ibrahim Libya, and
police in Baling, Kedah.
A clash between them left 14 civilians and four police personnel dead, including Ibrahim. PAS has blamed Mahathir for the incident, while the former premier
believed it was actually Hadiās fault - claiming the latter instigated
militancy through his 1981 "Amanat Hadi".
This blame game is one
of the main elements in the social media content attacking Hadi and PAS
for allegedly cosying up to Mahathir by signing the latterās "Malay People's Proclamation". In
particular, there are several iterations of a video of a Memali
victimās son, Mohamad Zuhdi Mat Piah, bashing those who used to stand by
the victims but were now āmenjilatā (brown-nosing) Mahathir.
The videos had been edited to include visuals of Hadi meeting with the former premier, giving the impression that Zuhdi is criticising the PAS president.
However, checks by Malaysiakini found this to be disinformation. Zuhdiās video and lament was actually from 2018, and was aimed at Amanah leaders Mohamad Sabu, Salahuddin Ayub and Mahfuz Omar. The former PAS trio were among those who had blamed Mahathir for the Memali incident but had allied with him for the 2018 polls.
In a Facebook post last Monday, Zuhdi - who is the Selangor PAS treasurer - decried the recent misuse of his video. He also said Hadiās actions in supporting Mahathir are not the same as what the Amanah leaders did in 2018.
āThe
meeting with Mahathir was to collect the voices of Malay-Muslim
leaders. Mahathir has no power, it is not to install Mahathir as prime
minister. āNot just Mahathir, any leader that does good for Malays
and the people should be supported,ā he said, before needling Prime
Minister Anwar Ibrahim to lower fuel prices. Meanwhile, besides
Zuhdi videos, footage of former deputy prime minister Musa Hitam denying
that Mahathir was abroad when the Memali incident took place is also
making the rounds.
AnginLintang : Those whose family members were killed by CPM hate communists til today. They will never forget this.
Memali?? It's ok. No problem. Sign Malay proclamation everything becomes ok. Dah lupa peristiwa tu.
Yg terbunuh tu too bad la.. nasiblah mati katak.
Is this how pas and hadi treat their own brothers?? So easily have they forgotten for what and why they fought?
All this is only about government posts, as what pas has been salivating for and as for madir, to remain out of jail for his deeds?? I'm very sure that Malay proclamation has nothing to do with Malays or Islam!
Sealthedeal : Hadi deserves everything that's thrown at him. Malays do not need his brand of extremism. They need to reject it at the ballot box and consign it to history.
