Rudyard Kipling"
“When you're left wounded on Afganistan's plains and
the women come out to cut up what remains, Just roll to your rifle
and blow out your brains,
And go to your God like a soldier”
General Douglas MacArthur"
“We are not retreating. We are advancing in another direction.”
“It is fatal to enter any war without the will to win it.” “Old soldiers never die; they just fade away.
“The soldier, above all other people, prays for peace, for he must suffer and be the deepest wounds and scars of war.”
“May God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won't .” “The object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his.
“Nobody ever defended, there is only attack and attack and attack some more.
“It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived.
The Soldier stood and faced God
Which must always come to pass
He hoped his shoes were shining
Just as bright as his brass
"Step forward you Soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't
Because those of us who carry guns
Can't always be a saint."
I've had to work on Sundays
And at times my talk was tough,
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny
That wasn't mine to keep.
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep,
The Soldier squared his shoulders and said
And I never passed a cry for help
Though at times I shook with fear,
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand."
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod
As the Soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, you Soldier,
You've borne your burden well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."
Malaysiakini : The nation’s main problems are currently the economy and governance, said Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
Those are the issues that should be focused on, he said, instead of racial misunderstandings. In
this regard, he said the federal government’s focus includes seeking
professional expertise, regardless of race or political affiliation, in
developing the nation as one team.
BlackGoose2030 : Have a zero tolerance policy. Don’t just talk, take actions against those fanning racism.
Ravinder Singh :
"The nation’s main problems are currently the economy and governance, said Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. Those are the issues that should be focused on, he said, instead of racial misunderstandings."
What's his understanding of "racial misunderstandings"?? RACISM and BIGOTRY is a very serious problem that needs to be addressed. You cannot have good economy and governance when RACISM and BiGOTRY in society act like the "titik nila" that spoils "sebelanga susu".
RACISM and BIGOTRY must be addressed and not pushed under the carpet to create more disunity. There must first be genuine unity of the people of various ethnicities for them to be able to work hand-in-hand to develop good economy and governance of the country. Why is he reluctant to deal with RACISM and BIGOTRY?
fernzthegreat : The elephant in the room is a small group accumulating capital, by hook or by crook, including plundering the public treasury under various guises promoted by the politics of distraction, disruption and obstructionism. The Anwar gov't should bring civil action against the errant parties and get back all funds allegedly stolen from the public treasury.
RedDeer6638 : While we try to get our economy on the right track Mr Anwar, we should not ignore other problems like racism. This racism is something that should be "killed" now or your economy and everything else will be doomed.
JW : Really? PM Anwar and cabinet, as well as advisors (pro-bono or not), can only focus on the economy? So, racial issues are not important, then?
Sad, from someone who has been talking about reformasi.
What else is reformasi if not about fairness and freedom as well as acceptance and inclusivity?
One can always focus on the economy until the cows come home because there is no end to it or made to have no end to it.
Did not Mahathir as PM spend his time on the economy as well, and, until he left office the first time, the economic issue was still front, centre and back of all activities, endeavours and policies--hardly any time for race/religion issues?
Sounds as though PM Anwar is unwilling to walk the talk of his reformasi, whatever that has become by now, barely 6 months of his premiership. Sigh!
