What is fcking bad about secularism? Secularism means:

1) Separation of Government from religion. It just mean that all people irrespective of religion, are treated equally.

2) Government to apply the scientific method in drafting policy - unencumber by religion; and education will be focus on secular knowledge while religious education are left to each religion.

3) The laws of the country will remain secular, with roots in the British common law, and Islamic law shall remain for Muslims only ie syariah and hudud will never replace secular law.

By making the statement that he oppose secularism, Anwar is subverting the present status where secularism elements in the Federal Constitution, such as the right of other religion to be practiced in the country - is protected by law.

He is opening a floodgate for Islamist to attack church, disrupt concert, and attacking non muslim women who wear skirt. If Anwar is a true statesman as some of his fan boys/girls fantasize, he should just state - like US president, that as PM - his role is to protect the rights of all Malaysians as spelt out in the Federal Constitution.

This public statement is targetted for his political gain but its dangerous - unless, in truth, the man is an Islamist in disguise, and truly meant what he said.

MS : Congratulations to Saudara Anwar for finally nailing it. Secularism is evil. And the Federal Constitution must be amended to make it clear. I suggest the Anwar Ibrahim unity government which does not recognize that hideous practice sever ties with all countries which practice it starting with Singapore, Australia, the UK, USA and all European countries.

And all Malay Muslims without exception must be immediately barred from setting foot in those countries lest they bring back secular elements in their minds when they return. And do not stop at that. Our constitution mentioned Islam is the religion of the Federation; but other religions may be practised in peace and harmony in any part of the Federation.

So, saying "religion of the Federation" and "official religion" are two different things here. You are NOT wrong but what I am trying to tell you that there are many people out there think similar as you.

Anwar is one of them, thus is his comment on secularism. He need to pacify some section of the society and also play safe with the opposition who is also known to use "official religion" to their own agenda. This is how the play with words!
