Some 62 people sheltering in a home in Kampung Tasek Bakong said they have not had access to clean water for two days, Berita Harian reported. Without other options, they resorted to boiling floodwaters to drink, cook and prepare milk formula for young children.
"We used this water to cook meals for everyone here. We hope the authorities can help send clean water to us. "We know our area is hard to access so we decided to do what we can
and hope that this will not bring us harm," resident Muzipah Che Muda,
54, told the daily.
She said the villagers are sheltering in that
home because floodwaters did not yet enter the home, although the water
in the compound is 0.5m deep. Ingesting floodwaters can cause diseases like cholera, which could lead to severe diarrhea, dehydration and death.
Meanwhile,
Mohd Yatin Mat Yaakob, 46, said some of the men have resorted to
sleeping in their vehicles, as there is no more space in the house. "We chose not to move to the evacuation centre because it is too
packed there. This is the only home in the village not inundated.
"Some of the victims have chosen to stay on their roofs, but we are grateful that at least we have shelter," he said. The
villagers also have access to a generator to charge their mobile
phones, since the electricity supply has been shut down for safety
reasons.
Rashid Aldin : GOOD, KEEP ON VOTING FOR THE PARTY
AnotherKomentar : Tragic that Kelantan government is doing so little to relieve the sufferings of the people there. Pas is not fit to govern Kelantan if it cannot even provide safe drinking water to the people.
frank : So so melodramatic! It rains all the time… what is so wrong in capturing that rain water to be boiled next instead of using the flood water? But I guess when one votes for the total useless, nothing else applies common sense!
Anonymous2021552310 : What good is voting for that party election after election?
New beginning : Tak hujan dan banjir pun takde air bersih, so what’s new. Mana pemimpin2 yg awak pilih tu?
JBond : Can someone forward Hadi and Tuan Man mobiles to them. Tell them that is the hotline for help. Where are these religious bigots? Suddenly no media appearance when there is no Chinese issue to attack.
Anonymous 33139918 : Where the hell are Hadi, Tuan Ibrahim, MB Kelantan, Deputy MB Kelantan, Exco Kelantan members, state assembly members in helping these stranded voters with clean water, food, lodging and other basic necessities?
Demi Rakyat : Correct.
While the Federal Government and Selangor Government and so many NGOs are helping out Kelantan, your own Pas government is not doing anything.
You all are so lucky that those who are against Pas are the ones helping you.
