Rudyard Kipling"
“When you're left wounded on Afganistan's plains and
the women come out to cut up what remains, Just roll to your rifle
and blow out your brains,
And go to your God like a soldier”
General Douglas MacArthur"
“We are not retreating. We are advancing in another direction.”
“It is fatal to enter any war without the will to win it.” “Old soldiers never die; they just fade away.
“The soldier, above all other people, prays for peace, for he must suffer and be the deepest wounds and scars of war.”
“May God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won't .” “The object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his.
“Nobody ever defended, there is only attack and attack and attack some more.
“It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived.
The Soldier stood and faced God
Which must always come to pass
He hoped his shoes were shining
Just as bright as his brass
"Step forward you Soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't
Because those of us who carry guns
Can't always be a saint."
I've had to work on Sundays
And at times my talk was tough,
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny
That wasn't mine to keep.
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep,
The Soldier squared his shoulders and said
And I never passed a cry for help
Though at times I shook with fear,
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand."
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod
As the Soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, you Soldier,
You've borne your burden well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."
Malaysiakini : Veteran journalist Abdul Kadir Jasin said he views the idea of Prime
Minister Anwar Ibrahim wielding significant executive power to be a
terrifying prospect.
Commenting on the formation of the current
government, he said Anwar justified appointing people facing court
cases, such as Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, using the “innocent
until proven guilty” argument. “Our concern is that the argument
will become a ‘self-fulfilling prophecy’. Meaning, the person using the
argument may want his opinion to come true.
“And as prime minister, Anwar (above, right)
has enough executive power to make what he wants to happen (actually
happen). A terrifying prospect,” he claimed in a post on Facebook today.
Desiderata : You were part of the previous witch hunts when PH came into power. We saw the results. Your boss has done more damage to our country than anyone alive now.
We need to rebuild our country and institutions but we don’t need lectures from you after what you have helped destroy. Please move on and take up gardening or something that cannot do any more damage.
MS : Kadir Jasin much of his time in NST justifying the iron-fisted my way or the highway rule of Mahathir. He is the last person on earth with the right to preach about the "terrifying prospect of the PM wielding significant executive power"
JazliSalleh : During the Operasi Lallang era, you were clapping hands and cheering while reporting. Today you are worried konon!!
Anonymous_w22892398 : Someone got hit by a triple whammy. Lost deposit, Anwar as PM, and ZH as DPM. Now his spokesperson is uttering nonsense.
IndigoSwan6963 : Tell that to Tun MM. Your concern is not at all appreciated. Come back in 2 years' and justify that to Malaysia.
Unluckeee : This politically bankrupt guy is talking nonsense. Anwar has the same power as any of the last 9 prime ministers.
The only difference being compared to the immediate last 5 prime ministers, Anwar is most unlikely to abuse his position.
White Mamba : Kadir Jasin is a blind TDM supporter and his mouthpiece.
Iphonezours : Kadir..this is not a PH government, but a unity one formed with various parties which compromises will have to be made. Despite the compromises, PH holds 15 ministerial posts not to mention key ones.
If this was Mahathir’s cabinet, Kadir would have given 101% praise on its formation. Btw Kadir why no comment on Mahathir’s disastrous defeat…??
Covid19 victim : Malaysiakini please do your part NOT to publish anything negative from lackey of past much hated regime leaders, please do your part as what our Agong and council of rulers have done which is to give this new government a chance
Beva2 : You are a thinker, Kadir. Appointing AZH and people in his camp in UMNO is to shore up his position in UMNO in the face of the onslaught in coming election.
The unity government survivability depends on AZH retaining his position in UMNO, at least in the near term. That, the success of the unity government, is for many Malaysians the paramount goal, because the alternative is talibanism.
Just a Malaysian : The last thing Mahathir wants to see is Anwar Ibrahim doing a good job and bringing progress to the country. It will totally prove him wrong, having denied Anwar twice.
He twisted and turned in his sleep, hoping and praying for Anwar to fail. It eats him up seeing educated and right thinking Malaysian seeing Anwar as saviour and last chance for regeneration.
It is supposed to be his role, and no one else, least of all, Anwar. Have a good day Tun M.
Sealthedeal : Who is this guy? Did we hear from him during the excesses of Mahatir's racial excesses?
Anwar is not stupid.
He did what was necessary to prevent the nation falling into the hands of ultra right wing fascists.
PAS and Bersatu must never be allowed to gain power again. All tactics are legitimate in that war.
Go back to sleep Kadir.
Bosku Merpati : Malaysiakini took years to restore people’s faith in Malaysian journalism by holding truth to power. Kadir Jasin is known to have previously destroyed it with one infamous front page headline done under his watch. The iconic NST which bred top notch journalists was never the same again.
