Rudyard Kipling"
“When you're left wounded on Afganistan's plains and
the women come out to cut up what remains, Just roll to your rifle
and blow out your brains,
And go to your God like a soldier”
General Douglas MacArthur"
“We are not retreating. We are advancing in another direction.”
“It is fatal to enter any war without the will to win it.” “Old soldiers never die; they just fade away.
“The soldier, above all other people, prays for peace, for he must suffer and be the deepest wounds and scars of war.”
“May God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won't .” “The object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his.
“Nobody ever defended, there is only attack and attack and attack some more.
“It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived.
The Soldier stood and faced God
Which must always come to pass
He hoped his shoes were shining
Just as bright as his brass
"Step forward you Soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't
Because those of us who carry guns
Can't always be a saint."
I've had to work on Sundays
And at times my talk was tough,
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny
That wasn't mine to keep.
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep,
The Soldier squared his shoulders and said
And I never passed a cry for help
Though at times I shook with fear,
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand."
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod
As the Soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, you Soldier,
You've borne your burden well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."
24 years after sacking Anwar, Dr M still has no confidence in new PM
Wednesday, December 28, 2022
Malaysiakini : In the early 1990s, Anwar Ibrahim was being groomed by Dr Mahathir
Mohamad to be the next prime minister, before it all fell apart and the
former got sacked as deputy premier in 1998.
Fast forward 24 years
and one month into Anwar’s premiership, Mahathir still has no faith
that his former disciple can do a good job as prime minister. In an exclusive interview with Berita Harian,
the nonagenarian said Anwar does not have what it takes to face the
country’s economic recession and the challenges of the post-pandemic
recovery.
This is based on his views of Anwar’s performance as finance minister in the 1990.
Kilimanjaro : "Mahathir had argued that getting a bailout from IMF and World Bank - as Anwar proposed - could bankrupt Malaysia."
This is not correct. Mahathir is just trying to spice it up. There are two damning issues on Mahathir that needs to be highlighted.
South Korea was also rattled by the financial crisis and it was among the first countries to go to the IMF. That pill did not bankrupt South Korea. Alternatively, it turned the country into an Asian Giant.
The firing of Anwar nearly cost UMNO its seat of power.
If not for the NM, UMNO may have fared worse but after the elections, he started belittling the Chinese by calling them Communists. All the Chinese wanted was for Mahathir to honour his promises to them.
Mahathir had fired the first salvo. If Anwar doesn't respond, he will end up like Badawi and Najib. Go after him. Keep him busy in the courts.
Just dig up the cases buried deep beneath - one can be the "correct, correct, correct" case. If possible, if the court finds him guilty, give him a few lessons on prison life. What more a better way for him to understand about people's pain and suffering. He may think he is untouchable.
The slippery answers he gave on the Sabah IC fiasco is another case. Push him to a corner and keep him busy. If it is about age, then he has to think of it first.
He had his time in running the country and he failed miserably. He should stop interfering.
If Anwar does fail, he has to answer to the voter, and not to Mahathir. That is how it should be. Put an end to Mahathir's "overlordship". He has ruined the country and more ruin will come if he is allowed to continue with his tantrums. - 314 likes
Enlightened globalist : Why cannot Tun M who destroyed racial harmony disappear? The father of racism is mainly responsible for the mess we are in. During his tenure, corruption was rampant with his children becoming billionaires.
The only difference with Najib was that Old Man was clever in hiding his tracks. One report stated that US $ 100 billion was lost to corruption during his reign. There were dozens of financial scandals which pales in comparison to Najib's misappropriation.
And Tun M has the arrogance to say that he has no confidence in Anwar. Let me tell Tun M; The majority of Malaysians dislike you and have no confidence in you! - 183 likes
Vijay47 : In your dotage, Mahathir Mohamad, you seem to have regressed into conditions that would arouse considerable anxiety among family and the few sincere friends you may have.
Change and progress was inevitable for Malaysia in a world furiously moving towards new heights in all directions.
Are you going to credit for every improvement we have experienced even if you had undeniably rendered some useful impetus in certain fields? Do you claim that you were the driving force behind the advent of the computer age and the arrival of the A380?
Let us also look at the depths that you took a blossoming Malaysia into. You introduced race and religious hate, you invented negotiated contracts, you emasculated the Court, you created the likes of Hadi Awang. If you wish to be recognized for all this, you are most welcome, none would oppose the idea.
On various issues, you are a man perceived to be devoid of honour. You promised, countless times, that you would step down within a year to enable Anwar Ibrahim to assume the mantle of premiership. You could not even keep your own word!
Perhaps the frailty of age includes an inability to remember.
Mahathir Mohamad, you would be a psychologist’s delight. You reflect every ailment arising from a terrified man who refuses to acknowledge his Indian origins, a fact torturing you night and day.
You have spent almost an entire lifetime in some futile delirious effort to erase any possibility that had our Constitution not carried a unique definition, you would today have been referred to as Mahathir a/l Iskandar.
Betrayal? You are the Einstein who invented the very practice.
After riding on non-Malay support towards your ascendancy, you stabbed all 20 million of us and turned back towards your racist ways. You had no qualms at all running with the hounds bent on destroying that precious legacy Tunku left us. You remember Tunku?
And you dare speak of betrayal? - 112 likes
Shanmugam V K Subrayan : Please somebody remind him of what our first prime minister, the Tengku, said of Mahathir in his memoirs: "This one man can destroy our nation". And he did. - 66 likes
Anon2000 : This old man does not know when to stop. He, his son and his entire party was just thrown out and disgraced by the rakyat and he still thinks he is relevant.
Hey Mahathir, you all lost your deposits. That means you all were disgraced in public. And you still want to talk? Go hide your silly face.
