Rudyard Kipling"
āWhen you're left wounded on Afganistan's plains and
the women come out to cut up what remains, Just roll to your rifle
and blow out your brains,
And go to your God like a soldierā
General Douglas MacArthur"
āWe are not retreating. We are advancing in another direction.ā
āIt is fatal to enter any war without the will to win it.ā āOld soldiers never die; they just fade away.
āThe soldier, above all other people, prays for peace, for he must suffer and be the deepest wounds and scars of war.ā
āMay God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won't .ā āThe object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his.
āNobody ever defended, there is only attack and attack and attack some more.
āIt is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived.
The Soldier stood and faced God
Which must always come to pass
He hoped his shoes were shining
Just as bright as his brass
"Step forward you Soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't
Because those of us who carry guns
Can't always be a saint."
I've had to work on Sundays
And at times my talk was tough,
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny
That wasn't mine to keep.
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep,
The Soldier squared his shoulders and said
And I never passed a cry for help
Though at times I shook with fear,
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand."
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod
As the Soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, you Soldier,
You've borne your burden well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."
Will Zahid 'drown' in Bagan Datuk? By B Nantha Kumar
Friday, November 18, 2022
Malaysiakini : GE15 | Ahmad Zahid Hamidiās
stronghold of Bagan Datuk in Perak is at risk and it would be ironic if
the Umno president is defeated since he was instrumental in pressuring
caretaker prime minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob to hold the election during
the monsoon season.
Zahid knows the ground beneath his feet, which has been solid since 1995, is now quivering. At
a ceramah in Selangor last week, he apologised to the audience for not
leaving his home state earlier, explaining that he needed to secure Bagan Datuk first.
"I
had to ensure all my chickens are safe in the coop, and that the
āmusangā (civet cat) won't come in to attack them," he quipped.
In this election, there are three "civet cats" targeting his
āchickensā, the biggest of them being Pakatan Harapanās Shamsul Iskandar
Md Akin.
Others in the race are Perikatan Nasional (PN)ās
Muhammad Faiz Na'aman and political reform group Gerak Independent (GI)
co-founder Tawfik Ismail, who is the son of the nationās late second
deputy premier, Dr Ismail Abdul Rahman.
In
the 2018 general election, Zahid campaigned in Bagan Datuk as a deputy
prime minister who was not implicated in scandals, although BN was
struggling under the weight of the 1MDB scandal.
This time around,
he is contesting with a deluge of corruption charges against him.
People are also under the impression that he pushed for the elections in
order to avoid landing behind bars.
alamak negaraku : If BN still rule, or PN... Really need to dissect every brain of those voters for scientific study. A study named "why some brains remained idiotic"
THINKbeforeyouvote : Hope the Bagan Datuk voters do us a big favour by not voting for Zahid. We are praying hard.
RZee : Cannot drown yet except at the polls as he must be alive to go to jail. He actually thought Malaysians were stupid and that all his criminal cases and charges are figments of imagination. They have been highlighted and debated and revealed and discussed as never before.
IndigoToucan1627 : Looks like the end is nigh for Zahid on two counts - as MP and as President of UMNO. This will lead to reform of UMNO.
Krabian : Bagan Datuk constituents are not stupid. Who wants to hang on to a sinking ship.
Give money, they take. Wang sudah masuk, abandon ship.
UNDECIDED : A vote for Zahid is a vote against more foreign as well as local investors to provide jobs for all Malaysians. A vote for HARAPAN is a vote for Anwar to be PM and a united Malaysia which will be a magnet for more investments.
