They
are Sarawak United People's Party's (SUPP) Richard Riot, Parti Rakyat
Sarawak's Aaron Ago Dagang and Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu's (PBB)
Alexander Nanta Linggi and Fadillah Yusof. Malaysiakini is still trying to determine who is the fifth representative.
GPS controls 23 seats in the Dewan Rakyat. Initially, the coalition
threw its support behind Perikatan Nasional’s Muhyiddin Yassin to take
over as prime minister.
After
it became clear that Muhyiddin had not secured the support of BN's 30
MPs, GPS' position changed yesterday. It will now leave it to the wisdom
of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to choose the prime minister. The source told Malaysiakini that GPS' position was now "more open" in terms of who could be the premier.
However, its previous letter of support for Muhyiddin was still valid. "It has not been withdrawn. It might be discussed within GPS soon," said the source. According
to Muhyiddin, he has received 115 endorsements from MPs to be prime
minister. However, this list of 115 MPs has not been made public.
GreenLeopard4021 : Search your conscience and vote Anwar for a more progressive Malaysia . We need a trustworthy leader of high caliber who will be able to bring back investors , a leader well-known and respected internationally , a leader who will look after all races from various religious backgrounds . Do this for your children and grand children !
Man on the Silver Mountain : Three out of four being named as GPS delegates are the people being disparaged by Muhyiddin's remark during the campaign. If they have any sense of responsibility and dignity to their people whom they supposed to represent, they will know what to say to the King. If they are thinking whatever carrot that Abang Jo hangs over their head, then there will be no hope.
BrownCheetah9736 : The ball is on GPS’s court now. These Sarawakian parties are always saying that peninsular parties don’t respect them and want to be treated as equals. Well, here’s your chance to be respected for, once in your life. You want respect, earn it NOW. Act like a real political party, make a stand instead of acting like a cowardly sheep tagging along or passing the ball to the King. Dayak reps, you are to be blamed if extremism encroaches into your society. Don’t think that Sarawak can be immune to what is happening in Semenanjung just because you are an island.
Koel : Sarawakians will have to hope that these few wealthy men do not betray the hopes and dreams of Sarawak for a few projects. They would do well to note the coordinated social media threats of a 13 May repeat being made against minorities in the peninsula. They should also be aware of which party is favoured by these thugs threatening the peace. Is this what they want on their doorstep?
Krabian : Probably we are seeing the wisdom of the Palace to send religious bigotry, extremism and racism to the tong sampah.
Demi Rakyat : Once again to GPS: Please don't BETRAY the people of Sarawak (and Malaysia as a whole) by supporting those who only seek their own greed and selfish agenda. The RUDE, ARROGANT and outright rejection of PN of working together to form a unity government for the sake of the Rakyat is clear evidence of this.
