Rudyard Kipling"
“When you're left wounded on Afganistan's plains and
the women come out to cut up what remains, Just roll to your rifle
and blow out your brains,
And go to your God like a soldier”
General Douglas MacArthur"
“We are not retreating. We are advancing in another direction.”
“It is fatal to enter any war without the will to win it.” “Old soldiers never die; they just fade away.
“The soldier, above all other people, prays for peace, for he must suffer and be the deepest wounds and scars of war.”
“May God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won't .” “The object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his.
“Nobody ever defended, there is only attack and attack and attack some more.
“It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived.
The Soldier stood and faced God
Which must always come to pass
He hoped his shoes were shining
Just as bright as his brass
"Step forward you Soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't
Because those of us who carry guns
Can't always be a saint."
I've had to work on Sundays
And at times my talk was tough,
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny
That wasn't mine to keep.
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep,
The Soldier squared his shoulders and said
And I never passed a cry for help
Though at times I shook with fear,
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand."
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod
As the Soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, you Soldier,
You've borne your burden well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."
UKM revises saree, cheongsam ban in convocation dress code
Monday, October 31, 2022
Malaysiakini : Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) has revised its convocation
ceremony dress code guidelines, amid outcry that it had barred graduates
from wearing saree and cheongsam.
The new
guideline now states that graduates can wear "baju kebangsaan” (national
costume) but did not specify which type is allowed.
According to the new guideline, female graduates must wear "national costume / baju kurung
/ lounge suit / long-sleeved blouse and a long skirt or dark coloured
trousers reaching the ankle" which must "conform to the protocols of a
formal convocation ceremony".
Male graduates are now also allowed
to wear any form of "national costume" as long as they are "befitting
the protocols of a formal convocation ceremony".
Kepala Tak Centre : Don't think that this was an innocent mistake by UKM. It was a deliberate and planned action by Islamist sitting on government positions to disturb non Muslims in Malaysia. Somehow, they will try again and again to disturb non Muslims.
WhyUsoLidat : These little Napoleons will continues to operate its rulings even if any parties comes into ruling Govt. Even Security guards are making their calls to deny entrance to public hospitals etc. We need to change the mentality and mindsets to embrace multi cultural diversity.
Dummies Dhimmi : Typical of a university in this country. that pays more attention to what you wear and not in the quality of education. This pseudo learning place lives in its own silo.
They have a anti Malaysia attitude embracing only a segment of the population forcing everyone to imitate their mediocre dress sense, which they dare call original. This will in no way portray a mature place for 'higher' learning.
On the Other Hand : The only reason they took it down is because there is a General Election in two weeks.
See how they behave at other times.
IndigoCamel7131 : Decision made by people who don’t understand what it means to be malaysian. This is a result of Malay politicians.
Coward : If they could just spent as much time and detail to the teaching as they did with attire I think they will find the time well spent. In fact, I am willing to bet so much so that they will sacrifice looking after attire to improving teaching.
It's just some sad souls thinking this is one way to boost their image to their boss, showing that they pay attention and have "pride" in their job we have to irradicate this type of nonsense.
I hope it won't take it a bloody demonstration and continued unrest liked in Iran to show them that what they are overdoing the dress code thing?
Shanmugam V K Subrayan : It is a reflection of the QUALITY of people chosen to manage the institutes of higher learning in this country. And then we complain about the quality of the graduates from these institutions!
Open minded 2281 : All voters both Muslim and non Muslim please take note that BN/Bersatu/PAS govt is slowly making Malaysia another Iran. Both communities will realise how much their freedom is taken away if you vote for these parties. Yes you must be dressed decently but don't impose your strict narrow religious beliefs to others.
MS : My comment on the swift arrest and detention of the bigots who trampled all over the KPJ Hospital Deepavali kolam and filmed it for distribution is equally applicable to the swift "gostan" demonstrated by the faceless bigots in UKM.
Elections are magical.
They work wonders on politicians, their enablers and their enforcers making them act quickly without fear or favor. How I wish we had them every month!
A graduation day is supposed to allow graduands to celebrate their achievements. By doing this UKM is relegating itself to a theological mindset.I do hope that politicians do speak out moral policing as one of the very important topics.
