Najib's
lead defence counsel this afternoon revealed that the Prison Department
last week did not allow his bid to attend the Dewan Rakyat sitting,
which resumed today.
Earlier during the Dewan Rakyat session
today, Speaker Azhar Azizan Harun said Najib can attend the sitting if
Prison authorities allow it. Courts Complex, Shafee claimed that the Prison director-general
(whose name was not mentioned) did not allow Najib to attend the Dewan
Rakyat on grounds of security.
The lawyer said that the issue of
security is a bit “odd” because Parliament is the most secure building
when compared even to the court complex where Najib was brought in order
to attend his ongoing court cases.
Shafee remarked that the
Prison authorities did not raise the issue of security when Najib was
brought to the hospital (believed to be in reference to the previous
visit to Kuala Lumpur Hospital and later to the Cheras Rehabilitation
Hospital).
The lawyer claimed that he had written to Azhar, who
confirmed that Najib is still Pekan MP due to his (Najib) two ongoing
legal applications.
BrownCheetah9736 : I agree for Najib to attend parliament, if he agrees to come wearing the prison orange garb that says LOKAP and in handcuffs. After all, women, teenagers and elderly people have been hauled to court in similar fashion for lesser offences
Lone_starWill it be a first in BolehLand if an inmate of Kacang gets to be in the august house? And will he go to the dewan in what attire and be accompanied by how many? The Rakyat awaits.
Multi Racial: This criminal is getting too much. Just reject his pardon and he is not allow to join parliamentary session
fido : I'd say call his dare - let him sue. Then employ the very same delaying tactics his crew has been using - recuse, allege, fall sick etc.
I have never been more ashamed as a Malaysian. He. Is. A . Criminal.
picture : OMG! Really? He wants to attend parliament???
Surely the law needs to change to ban such thing?
9 judges condemned him to jail and he is trying to get out??
So prisoners can now ask to be release to attend concerts, to watch live football, etc???
Proof of pudding always in the eating : This must be some sort of first worldwide. Convicted criminal threatening to sue govt for not allowing him outside prison.
MAS_K_RO : A taxi driver, now serving as a convict too has his right to feed his starving family. Therefore he should be allowed to drive his taxi to get his income. What about that?
GreenLlama0921 : If Home Minister allows it . He must be in hand cuffs
Newday : There is an obvious urgency to attend to this pardon attempt. I know it would be savage queue jumping, but can it just be dealt with, hopefully in the negative to shut down this madness?
