According to Buletin TV3, Mahdzir (above) told reporters in Kuala Nerang, Kedah yesterday that DAP was fielding Malay candidates in seats where it would be tough for them to win. "It is part of their tactic to show that they are multi-ethnic. However, everyone knows party decisions are made by a small group who are Chinese-centric.
"They can say they nominated Malay candidates. If the candidates lose, it will still show that (DAP) have done something to be fair to all ethnic groups," he said.
So far, DAP has announced six Malays as MP candidates - Syahredzan Johan (Bangi), Tengku Zulpuri Shah Raja Puji (Lipis), Sheikh Umar Bagharib Ali (Ayer Hitam), Young Syefura Othman (Bentong), Zulhazmi Shariff (Jerai), Fatin Zulaikha Zaidi (Mersing) and Syerleena Abdul Rashid (Bukit Bendera).
Of the six, three were fielded for seats where Harapan are the incumbent (Bangi, Bentong and Bukit Bendera).
