7th Rangers: Sadly Lim Kit Siang swallows hook line and sinker, of Ketuanan excuses from the Suhakam Chief who defended not signing the ICERD ratification
Fighting Seventh
The Fighting Rangers On War, Politics and Burning Issues
Rudyard Kipling"
“When you're left wounded on Afganistan's plains and
the women come out to cut up what remains, Just roll to your rifle
and blow out your brains,
And go to your God like a soldier”
General Douglas MacArthur"
“We are not retreating. We are advancing in another direction.”
“It is fatal to enter any war without the will to win it.” “Old soldiers never die; they just fade away.
“The soldier, above all other people, prays for peace, for he must suffer and be the deepest wounds and scars of war.”
“May God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won't .” “The object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his.
“Nobody ever defended, there is only attack and attack and attack some more.
“It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived.
The Soldier stood and faced God
Which must always come to pass
He hoped his shoes were shining
Just as bright as his brass
"Step forward you Soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't
Because those of us who carry guns
Can't always be a saint."
I've had to work on Sundays
And at times my talk was tough,
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny
That wasn't mine to keep.
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep,
The Soldier squared his shoulders and said
And I never passed a cry for help
Though at times I shook with fear,
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand."
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod
As the Soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, you Soldier,
You've borne your burden well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."

Rahmat Mohamad
Malaysiakini : Suhakam chairperson Rahmat Mohamad’s clarification that he is not an
opponent of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms
of Racial Discrimination (Icerd) and Rome Statute is welcome, as I had
expected the commission to be in troubled waters headed by someone who
is anti-human rights.
OrangePanther1466 : ICERD and Rome Statute were signed by the former BN government under Najib. What PH did was to give it effect by ratifying it.
Rahmat's reason is likely an afterthought.
Can we examine the advice the 4 kangkong processors gave to the royalty? Did they highlight the point that the 2 treaties were good but that Malaysia was not ready to ratify?
So with due respect uncle Lim, we should not accept Rahmat's reasons on face value.
Kilimanjaro : Rahmat Mohamad is waffling and all his vain attempt does is to simply affirm the truth - and that is he rode on the unsavoury events of the day rather than giving his objective take. Far from what a responsible view that should have been, he was one of those who failed the nation at a crucial hour.
He simply swam with the tide.
It was all about UMNO's and PAS's politics - hell-bent on a racial and a religious divide. The irony, the one person who may have started it all simply watched a helpless DAP being massacred at the altar of virulent racial politics.
When the heat is on, though an engineered one, it may be the need of the hour to temper it with "coolants" but to assume that this is what Rahmat attempted or did may be erroneous.
It was neither objective nor professional. He just offered a tidal view. Whatever he says now can only be looked upon as excuses that fails to exonerate him of his then regressive, calculative and a manipulative opinion.
World Citizen : The reason given by the Suhakam chief for his opposition to Icerd and RS is pathetic and LKS pandering to this guy is even more pathetic. The real reason Rahmat and all the Malay racists opposed to these international treaties is pure and simple - they did not want to dismantle the racist policies in Malaysia and the Malay hegemony forever.
Malaysia will never be ready for these treaties as long as the Malay racists continue to dominate the narrative and it is not a question of putting 'certain' processes in place as claimed by Rahmat. Apartheid will never be eliminated from human history.
Aisyalam : Seriously you can’t be that ignorant. See how the spots change for the latest lawyer of the ex-PM and the Speaker. See how he talks on the refugees as if it’s own citizens are not discriminated.
