No Atheists
In A Foxhole

Rudyard Kipling

" “When you're left wounded on
Afganistan's plains and

the women come out to cut up what remains,
Just roll to your rifle

and blow out your brains,
And go to your God like a soldier”
General Douglas MacArthur

" “We are not retreating. We are advancing in another direction.”

“It is fatal to enter any war without the will to win it.”
“Old soldiers never die; they just fade away.
“The soldier, above all other people, prays for peace,
for he must suffer and be the deepest wounds and scars of war.”
“May God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won't .”
“The object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his.

“Nobody ever defended, there is only attack and attack and attack some more.
“It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died.
Rather we should thank God that such men lived.
The Soldier stood and faced God
Which must always come to pass
He hoped his shoes were shining
Just as bright as his brass
"Step forward you Soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't
Because those of us who carry guns
Can't always be a saint."
I've had to work on Sundays
And at times my talk was tough,
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny
That wasn't mine to keep.
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep,
The Soldier squared his shoulders and said
And I never passed a cry for help
Though at times I shook with fear,
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand."
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod
As the Soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, you Soldier,
You've borne your burden well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."

KL residents to sue after DBKL's 'poor' reply on flood mitigation
Sunday, September 25, 2022

Malaysiakini : A group of eight Kuala Lumpur residents have filed a legal suit against the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) and Federal Territories Minister Shahidan Kassim.

This is over an “inadequate response” to a letter of demand asking the authorities to reveal their flood mitigation plans for the capital during the monsoon season.

“DBKL’s response to our letter of demand, by way of a press statement, is that there is an existing Pelan Tindakan Banjir Kilat 2022 and that DBKL and government agencies are mitigating floods based on this plan.

“In our view, the Pelan Tindakan Banjir Kilat 2022 does not contain adequately detailed information on its flood mitigation strategy for Kuala Lumpur, which would allow meaningful engagement, scrutiny, and accountability by the public,” said lawyer Lim Wei Jiet in a statement on behalf of the eight residents.

Cogito Ergo Sum : For far too long taxpayers have been taken for granted. In the face of rising costs and flood waters, it is the right of every tax payer to be in the know where their tax ringgit/dollar goes. It is a fundamental right. The courts are the final forum for the public to get a fair deal and we hope will provide the final avenue for justice. It’s time the administration realise that they no longer can avoid being accountable.

Anon Two : Caused by too many sub-par and corrupt civil servants, worse is yet to come...

Justice : Hope the court will ensure the requirements of environmental laws are strictly complied with by the authorities and also transparency and public participation in the environmental impact assessment (EIA) study and in the approval of EIA Report process are upheld by the court.

If not, the authorities, politicians and ministers will as usual be sleeping on their job and will also tend to easily compromise with vested interests who give them political donations.

Cyclonus : DBKL has lost control of the flood issues plaguing KL for decades. Flooding occurs when existing drainage systems are under capacity to accommodate the water discharge and /or due to poorly maintained outlets resulting in it being clogged.

The discharge situation arises when fast development causes rapid high water concentration at low lying areas, hence flooding. Developers who are probably in cahoots with politicians and senor govt officials probably disregarded the advise of this by their technical experts in lieu of commercial gain.

With respect to clogged drains it is a matter of poor maintenance culture. But I personnally feel the cause is primarily because of the over development and the total disregard it has on the existing drainage infrastructure for monetary gain.

Bornean : Let hope you all succeeded...and open many many more suits from all malaysia to bring these government lackers to be responsible

Appum : It's about time to make the authorities realise they are answerable to the rakyat. Rakyat are not beholden to them as they are the servants and rakyat are the boss! Far too long, these people mistakenly think they are the powers-that-be! Time to educate them!

BrownCheetah9736 : Flooding in the business capital of Malaysia in the 21st century is totally unacceptable and a disgrace. All the billions of ringgit spending on SMART tunnels, Klang river redevelopment, widening, deepening etc etc has proven to be ineffective. A comprehensive and total solution is required, not piecemeal projects
