Harapan: Hadi merely concealing tolerance towards corruption

Malaysiakini : Pakatan Harapan today denied allegations from PAS president Abdul
Hadi Awang that the coalition comprised “non-believers and the immoral”.
In
a media statement, Amanah communications director and Shah Alam MP
Khalid Abdul Samad alleged that Hadi had made such a statement to
conceal PAS’ own tolerance towards corruption. “We believe Hadi
made this statement to hide PAS’ true attitude towards corruption when
it defends corrupt individuals and groups who have been proven guilty in
court,” he said.
Khalid said that the immoral attitude of PAS as a
party that uses the name of Islam to form alliances and defend
perpetrators of corruption contradicts the purity of Islam in
safeguarding national property and public interests. “Islam teaches its people to hate corruption and reject the perpetrators of corruption.
“PAS should take a firmer stance in rejecting parties and party leadership that practice a culture of corruption, such as Umno. “PAS
should also reject the practice of accepting positions as a reward for
support of power, as displayed during the forming of the Perikatan
Nasional government, because it is also a form of corruption and
immorality,” he said.
