Malaysiakini : INTERVIEW | Any decisions made by
Pakatan Harapan to officially accept new coalition partners for the
forthcoming 15th general election must be carefully deliberated to avoid
a repeat of Bersatu's treachery, Anwar Ibrahim said.
In an interview with Malaysiakini,
the Harapan chairperson said that aside from Muda, the coalition also
received a letter from PSM, seeking to rekindle ties and explore
possible election cooperation.
"I think we can continue to engage, since these parties' policies are quite close to Harapan. "But
I will leave it to the presidential council, and later on to have the
committee deliberate in detail," the PKR president said yesterday, ahead
of a meeting to be held this afternoon at the party's headquarters.
Anwar attributed Harapan's cautious stance to its failed pact with
Bersatu that ended with the Sheraton Move, which saw Bersatu taking over
Putrajaya as leader of Perikatan Nasional, together with BN, PAS and
GPS.

the experience in the past with Bersatu was tough, they reneged all the
commitments on issues of multi-racial agenda, to get rid of corruption,
and of course, for PKR we cannot be absolved from these excesses
because many of our leaders were involved in this treachery," Anwar
added.
MAVID20 VIRUS : I think Anwar is right. PH should keep MUDA away because SS is a Dr M loyalist and MUDA party was registered around the same time as Pejuang. Mahathir strategy is to use SS to go after the young and gullible voters while Pejuang will go after the Malay and old.
For the sake of PH, please keep MUDA away, They are like cancer. MUDA was established in Sep 2020, while Pejuang was established in Aug 2020. I think MUDA is Dr M's baby. So be wise. Keep Muda and Mahathir virus away
Proarte : MUDA has no track record of being able to attract the youth vote without help from Pakatan Harapan. They won one seat in Johor because PH agreed not to contest.
MUDA's head honcho Syed Saddiq (SS) is a Mahathir protege and has been part of racist Bersatu and Pejuang.
Now he forms MUDA and claims to have the youth vote on his side. Where is the proof ? Anwar's caution is understandable.
MUDA can declare itself as PH friendly and not contest in seats which PH is contesting in. If it so wishes it can also contest and the party with the most support wins, as per democracy.
Why is MUDA not joining forces with Warisan which it was flirting with originally? We know Shafie Apdal is an Anwar rival and Mahathir friendly. SS is a political opportunist and this was glaringly revealed when he did a U turn and welcomed Zakir Naik into his home for a meal. The Indian fugitive preacher insulted Malaysian Chinese by calling them "guests" in Malaysia.
So we know SS can sell out the people he represents.
PH must not feel threatened or intimidated by MUDA. All PH component parties have Youth Wings and it would be undermining them if MUDA is accepted on the basis that it can bring in the youth vote. This must be taken into consideration.
Also, there is a trust factor because SS is a Mahathir protege, the main culprit who caused the collapse of PH. It could be that SS is a trojan out there to destabilise PH.
I feel the best option is for MUDA to be admitted formally AFTER the elections but for MUDA currently to adopt a PH friendly approach. The onus is on MUDA is prove its loyalty to PH because it is really late in the day to join without causing ructions within PH.
BlueFish0451 : Whether Muda has unofficial link or understanding with Pejuang or not is yet to be seen. However, it would be naive or even stupid and irresponsible if PH is not taking cognizant of the extremely remarkable coincidence of Syed Saddiq who is the blue-eyed boy of Mahathir and Dian Lee who is the daughter of another Mahathir's blue-eyed boy and an alleged Mahathir's crony too, being the leaders of Muda.
Mahathir is a strategist and who has a plan B. When he foresee the imminent fall of UMNO in GE14 due to sea of anger against Najib 1MDB, he quickly stepped out to gatecrash into PH to save the throne. In case UMNO won GE14, he would just turn back, something that he was used to doing.
In GE15, knowing that Pejuang has no chance to win, Mahathir might use Muda as a bargaining chip and trump card, especially if the winning coalition has a slim majority like in GE14, to put Pejuang in power.
It is Mahathir the fox that every should be worried about.
