No Atheists
In A Foxhole

Rudyard Kipling

" “When you're left wounded on
Afganistan's plains and

the women come out to cut up what remains,
Just roll to your rifle

and blow out your brains,
And go to your God like a soldier”
General Douglas MacArthur

" “We are not retreating. We are advancing in another direction.”

“It is fatal to enter any war without the will to win it.”
“Old soldiers never die; they just fade away.
“The soldier, above all other people, prays for peace,
for he must suffer and be the deepest wounds and scars of war.”
“May God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won't .”
“The object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his.

“Nobody ever defended, there is only attack and attack and attack some more.
“It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died.
Rather we should thank God that such men lived.
The Soldier stood and faced God
Which must always come to pass
He hoped his shoes were shining
Just as bright as his brass
"Step forward you Soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't
Because those of us who carry guns
Can't always be a saint."
I've had to work on Sundays
And at times my talk was tough,
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny
That wasn't mine to keep.
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep,
The Soldier squared his shoulders and said
And I never passed a cry for help
Though at times I shook with fear,
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand."
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod
As the Soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, you Soldier,
You've borne your burden well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."

MP SPEAKS | Oktoberfest - Respect non-Muslim rights too - Mohamed Hanipa Maidin
Thursday, August 04, 2022
Kilimanjaro : Magnanimity as explained Hanipa is not what NM expect from Muslims. We have gone far away from that long ago. And to say the least, not to expect one from PAS or its current leaders. A party that has been specifically built on race and religion, PAS will be nothing if it is stripped of its religious "credentials".

What though is essentially the need of the hour is for all to adhere to the Constitution. Our forefathers had drafted a Constitution that spells in no uncertain terms that the religion of the Federation is Islam and NM have the freedom of worship. As long as each stick to their borders and don't encroach on the others, there should be no problem.

Hanipa is a good person and there are many MM leaders who are known to be fair to all races/religions. But we have the misfortune of living also among religious zealots and politicians who ignore the tenets that had held the country in good stead. The problem is twofold - the two parties that represented the NM, MCA and MIC, failed to protect the interests of the NM adequately. Add to this the weak enforcement that allowed such streaks to get carried away.

A closer look will put UMNO in the dock, and not PAS. The dual system of law was not introduced by PAS - it was by UMNO's Mahathir. The "Islamisation" took a different turn when Mahathir was the PM and Anwar was his Deputy. The damage Anwar did then cannot be simply erased away although as a political head of a multiracial party he had mellowed. Mahathir is still going around the town hanging on to his masterpiece which had prompted NM to shun him despite their "forgiveness" to give him a second chance. But leopards don't change their spots, do they?

What is necessary to move this country forward is to have moderate MM leaders, not the kind of Ismail Sabri who says one thing and does another on certain occasions. Voters are now political savvy and the lid on those who believe that race and religion can carry them through nationally are nothing but daydreamers.

It is so unfortunate that apart from Tunku and Hussein Onn, we never had leaders but only politicians who could not see beyond their own personal and political views.

Malaysiakini : MP SPEAKS | PAS’ minister, Senator Idris Ahmad, reportedly said the beer festival Oktoberfest should not be allowed in Malaysia. A deputy minister from Bersatu defended the stand taken by Idris.

For the record, PAS has been openly opposing Oktoberfest from day one despite the fact the festival has nothing to do with Muslims let alone infringe any Muslim rights.

In other words, such a beer festival does not violate any basic rights of any Muslim. If any such infringement occurs, it only implicates the rights and freedom of our non-Muslim brothers and sisters in this country.

Being a Muslim, I may have my own personal opinion on the beer festival but I strongly believe I have no right to show any iota of disrespect to the rights of any non-Muslims who wish to participate in Oktoberfest.

In taking this position, I am duly guided by the firm stand taken by a few renowned Muslim scholars in the past who unhesitatingly upheld the right of non-Muslims to freely practice their own religions.

For instance, the Muslim caliph Imam Ali, in a letter to his appointed governor Malik Al-Ashtar, reminded his appointee of the following apt advice:

"Remember that the citizens of the state are of two categories. They are either your brethren in religion (Muslims) or your brethren in kind (non-Muslims)."

Another exemplary scholar was a Muslim saint by the name of Sheikh Ahmad Zarruq.
