Rudyard Kipling"
āWhen you're left wounded on Afganistan's plains and
the women come out to cut up what remains, Just roll to your rifle
and blow out your brains,
And go to your God like a soldierā
General Douglas MacArthur"
āWe are not retreating. We are advancing in another direction.ā
āIt is fatal to enter any war without the will to win it.ā āOld soldiers never die; they just fade away.
āThe soldier, above all other people, prays for peace, for he must suffer and be the deepest wounds and scars of war.ā
āMay God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won't .ā āThe object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his.
āNobody ever defended, there is only attack and attack and attack some more.
āIt is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived.
The Soldier stood and faced God
Which must always come to pass
He hoped his shoes were shining
Just as bright as his brass
"Step forward you Soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't
Because those of us who carry guns
Can't always be a saint."
I've had to work on Sundays
And at times my talk was tough,
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny
That wasn't mine to keep.
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep,
The Soldier squared his shoulders and said
And I never passed a cry for help
Though at times I shook with fear,
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand."
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod
As the Soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, you Soldier,
You've borne your burden well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."
Loh gets leave for legal challenge on Islamic conversions of her children - Hidir Reduan Abdul Rashid
Monday, August 01, 2022
Proarte : Is it right for a Hindu mother not to know that her children were converted to Islam by her drug addict ex-husband?
Why were the Sharia courts so quick to convert the children knowing the mother was Hindu?
Did they not think it fair to at least confirm the conversion had the consent of the Hindu mother?
Also did they not bother to enquire whether the father was a suitable person to raise 3 children without their mother, given his criminal record?
Is Islam a religion of compassion, justice and peace?
This is something which the Sharia Courts and the Mufti of Perlis must ask themselves.
Dr Raman Letchumanan : Costs should have been awarded against the religious authorities objecting to this application. It seems to be a frivolous objection and a waste of court's time. These authorities have filed several objections on this case every step of the way.
It should be noted that based on the Federal Court prior decisions on similar cases, the Federal Constitution is clearly on the side of the plaintiff. Unless the authorities reign in on their own such frivolous actions, the Courts should impose punitive costs against the religious authorities, so that no further such actions are mounted, and these authorities learn to respect the Constitution and the decision of our highest court.
Imagine the multiple state authorities against a single mother, who we all know is working hard to rebuild her abused life, to feed her children and give them a proper upbringing. Where is the compassion of the religion, even if conversion is deemed necessary, the consent of the mother who gave birth to these children should have been sought. These are laws of nature, and God respects natural justice.
If not for some kind hearted lawyers, this mother would have been crushed under the weight of state oppression. Where is the morality in all these, even if religiously justified.
The religious authorities should use their time, money and energy to resolve the many problems of single mothers, orphaned children, poverty, domestic abuse who are crying out for help.
Poor mothers being incarcerated in jails for stealing to feed their children, yet the religious authorities don't seem to care.
Please leave this mother alone, and let her rebuild her life away from the clutches of her abusive husband who is now languishing in jail for drug abuse. He needs religious education badly. Please focus on him.
OMG! : Don't be too happy yet.
There are sinister ugly elements in Malaysia. Remember Pastors Raymobd Koh and Amri Che Mat abduction by State actors that Suhakom concluded were rogue elements from enforcement arms of Federal Gomen?
Devious minds are right now fuming angrily and plotting how to undermine the judiciary.
Malaysia belongs to all of us but there are many who think it belongs to them, only, and the rest should accept their lesser position.
Malaysiakini : The civil court granted leave to Loh Siew Hong to commence with her
legal action to quash her three childrenās unilateral conversion to
Islam. The High Court in Kuala Lumpur this morning granted leave to the single motherās judicial review application targeting the conversion carried out by her former husband and Muslim convert, Muhammad Nagahswaran Muniandy.
Nagahswaran,
who is in jail on drug-related charges, had allegedly run off with the
estranged coupleās three children and unilaterally converted them to
Islam, without the knowledge and consent of Low (above), two years ago. In effect, today's ruling paves the way for the court to set a date to hear the merits of the legal challenge.
During proceedings conducted via zoom, judge Wan Ahmad Farid Wan
Salleh ruled that Loh was still within the time period to file the
judicial review when she filed the legal action on March 23. He
noted that she only found confirmation about her childrenās 2020
conversion on March 4 this year, meaning the three-month period to file
the legal action begins on that date.
The judge noted that the law
on judicial review stipulates that the time period to file such legal
action begins on the date when the public bodyās decision arose or the
date when the aggrieved party was informed about the decision. He
further pointed out that Lohās children were converted on July 7, 2020,
but she only found out about it in March this year, and that the
Attorney-Generalās Chambers (AGC) has no objection to the leave being
given for the judicial review to proceed.
