Rudyard Kipling"
“When you're left wounded on Afganistan's plains and
the women come out to cut up what remains, Just roll to your rifle
and blow out your brains,
And go to your God like a soldier”
General Douglas MacArthur"
“We are not retreating. We are advancing in another direction.”
“It is fatal to enter any war without the will to win it.” “Old soldiers never die; they just fade away.
“The soldier, above all other people, prays for peace, for he must suffer and be the deepest wounds and scars of war.”
“May God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won't .” “The object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his.
“Nobody ever defended, there is only attack and attack and attack some more.
“It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived.
The Soldier stood and faced God
Which must always come to pass
He hoped his shoes were shining
Just as bright as his brass
"Step forward you Soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't
Because those of us who carry guns
Can't always be a saint."
I've had to work on Sundays
And at times my talk was tough,
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny
That wasn't mine to keep.
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep,
The Soldier squared his shoulders and said
And I never passed a cry for help
Though at times I shook with fear,
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand."
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod
As the Soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, you Soldier,
You've borne your burden well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."
Rupert16: Is the increase in incest, child marriages, drug addiction, Mat Rempits among Muslims the outcome of consuming alcohol? Obviously not. If anything, the Religious Minister should take a long hard as to the above causes which are causing havoc in his community.
RedWolf4463 : All
over again. The Malaysian political landscape and news is full of
bickering over religious domination, wanton corruption, racial
superiority. While the rakyat continue to suffer under misrule and
neglect. Look at Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia. No wonder Malaysia has fallen so far behind all our neighbours.
The
PAS leaders and ministers should let the whole world know how much of
child marriages, incest, drug abuse, corruption, theft, divorce,
poverty, sexual abuse etc is happening among their kind behind the
religious facade. And Oktoberfest and Bon Odori which has got nothing to do with them is deemed more evil than all their deeds. PAS must never again be given a voice in federal government after the GE15.
Kneazle : It's
like telling the Malays to avoid Bak Kut Teh as if the Malay were not
aware what Oktoberfest is about. IA was making some noises to earn his
keep. Otherwise he will be accused of tak buat kerja.
JazliSalleh: The
constitution gives the Non Muslims the rights to hold an alcohol
festival as they deem fit. Muslims should not dictate what Non Muslims
should or should not be doing according to Islam. That is not their
religion in the first place. We should not act as their guardians. Faham
tak!! Just mind our own business. The constitution is clear on the
rights of every citizen.
GrayWolf2705: I like arak, I minum. You don't like, you jangan minum
I don't tell PUS to minum because I like You don't tell me I cannot minum because you don't like. Then only aman
OCT : For
so many years these two festivals have been celebrated without any
incidents and/or caused illusions to anyone. In fact these two festivals
and other non Muslim festivals have generated more income for the Govt.
Times are hard. NM Rakyat needs festivals to drown the misery by
jollying, singing and/or dancing. Festivals are meant to bring
friendship, understandings and laughter. Don't always think of negative
impacts just because it is not inline with your religion or culture. The
old Malaysia is more tolerable, inclusive and accomodating to other
religions and their culture and festivals. Open your eyes to see how the
whole world has progressed instead of living in the past where only
camels and flying carpets were popular. Malaysia has been losing out to
the neighboring countries due to lots of restrictions and regulations
that are not conducive for investors to relax after a hard day's work.
Wake up to the new world.
apek superdad : Pilihlah untuk duk rumah diam2. Pilihan di tangan kita. We are responsible for our own happiness.
It brings no value to your position as a Minister.
Proarte: This
is an ongoing issue which pushes the 'Ketuanan Islam dan Melayu'
narrative of bankrupt politicians. They are appealing to their support
base which is the rural and relatively uneducated B40 group who are
easily influenced by PAS' abuse of Islam. The
Oktoberfest is a German Beer Festival which is very much a German
cultural event. Malays who feel drinking beer or watching non-Muslims
drinking beer is wrong should simply not attend. It is the
Constitutional right of non-Muslims to be left in peace an harmony to
carry out their cultural activities which may include drinking alcohol. There
is no absolute ban on drinking alcohol in Islam as the benefits of
alcohol are also recognised. In the Quran Chapter 47 verse 15, we are
told the rivers of heaven are flowing with the most delicious of wines.
If Allah has no issue with alcohol per se, then how can Idris of PAS
have any issue? If
we drink too much alcohol then it will have negative consequences.
Idris should be aware there is debate whether Cannabis and Ketum should
be allowed for medicinal purposes. Has
Idris not read the Al-Kafirun chapter of the Quran which essentially
calls for mutual tolerance between Muslims and non-Muslims? If PAS
wants to play politics and poison the minds of Muslims and cause
division in our society, then they will increasingly be exposed.
Kilimanjaro : This
Minister for Islamic affairs continues to abuse his position by
interfering in matters that has no relevance to Muslims. Is this his way
of showing disrespect to the beliefs and the cultures of NM or is he on
a mission to spite the NM? Or is he trying to challenge the NM? He
should not expect NM to take every blow lying down. He has been playing a
very dangerous game that can turn ugly one day. He got a "slap" on his
face when Muslims ignored his plea not to attend the Bon Odori festival.
He has to be schooled on what it means by having and showing mutual
respect among the various religions in the country. Just because Islam
is the religion of the Federation he cannot go on bashing up the NM and
their cultures.
RZee : Here
we go again. Did anyone ask the Muslims to attend this festival? They
can stay home and cook rice and drink syrup. Why do Muslims behave like
this to their fellow citizens who in turn, don’t interfere in the
choices of Muslims ? Who is disrespecting who ? Getting sickening.
Yes, alcohol causes road accidents, but in Malaysia drunk driving is actually the smallest cause of road accidents. Most accidents are caused by sober but reckless drivers. Just ask yourself, how many mat rempits drink alcohol?
This PAS minister should replace Oktoberfest with Corruptionfest instead. This will be allowed because according to PAS's version of Islam, corruption and kleptocracy is totally halal and good for our country.
" all parties should respect the rules and laws of Malaysia that is based on Islam as the religion of the federation,”. Dei. What are you talking?? I thought Rules and Laws of Malaysia are based on the very very secular Federal Constitution.
Idris - am actually wondering why you as Minister for Islamic religion is even discussing this? This Fun Festival has no religious links whatsoever. It is seriously none of your business what others not of the Islamic persuasion do with their time and money.
You raise social ills - domestic violence, traffic accidents, poverty, fights, health problems and poor work performance, to justify your stance. These are social ills that only occur in the most extreme minority cases of alcohol consumption and does not represent the vast majority consuming a Pint or two of the frosty nectar at a festival that has been celebrated for many years the World over.
Social ills you describe can happen in many different circumstances and religions. Poverty, domestic violence, traffic accidents, fights, poor work performance and adverse health conditions are rife in your home state of Kelantan. Yet in theory it is the most Islamic State in Malaysia. How to reconcile that? You cannot, but deflect away from the impact of ultra conservative Islam on the daily existence of those in your home State.
Please, when it comes to non-Islamic events in our multi faceted Malaysia, it is really best if you don’t comment at all, but instead focus on the social ills permeating Islamic society instead.
I hope HRH the Sultan of Selangor as the Head of Islam in Selangor intervenes in the same way he did in shutting up PAS when they wanted a ban on the Bon Odori Japanese Festival. PAS is determined to divide the races in Malaysia and cause unnecessary tension. If only PAS would concentrate on improving the lives of Malays in this country.
The Oktoberfest is a German Festival which German expats and their Malaysian friends here look forward to. It celebrates the food and beverages of the Germans including their famous beers; It is the constitutional right of non-Muslims to drink alcohol and to participate in a non-Halal festival in peace and harmony without any interference from Muslims.
The al-Kafirun chapter of the Quran makes it clear that non-Muslims have their rights in the same way Muslims do - "to each his own" is essentially what al-Kafirun enjoins. Why was this missed out in Idris of PAS Islamic education?
Idris too would have learnt if he was paying attention to his Islamic studies that alcohol has benefits as well as negative effects. Idris said alcohol causes " domestic violence, traffic accidents, poverty, fights, health problems, and poor work performance". Cannabis and Ketum can also cause the same if consumed to excess but not so if used intelligently. Not surprisingly Malaysia is considering legalising its use for medicinal purposes.
Jesus who is a revered prophet in Islam, converted water to wine at the wedding in Cana as recounted in the Injil. The Muhammad chapter of the Quran (Chapter 47, verse 15) states that Heaven has rivers of wine flowing with the most delectable wines!
So the question remains why Idris is so exercised when non-Muslims enjoy themselves in the Oktoberfest which serves beverages which are 'heavenly' in nature?
Please don't disturb non-muslim festival and culture.
"Jangan cuba mencabar. Kesabaran kami ada batasnya "
Guys , sounds familiar ?
