Malaysiakini : Police have launched an investigation against former
attorney-general Mohamed Apandi Ali under Section 217 of the Penal Code
over the 1MDB and SRC International financial scandal. This comes following a report lodged by Klang MP Charles Santiago on Wednesday, who alleged that Apandi (above)had
abused his power to cover up investigations into the financial scandals
with the intention to clear former premier Najib Abdul Razak.
“Police
confirm that a report has been lodged by Klang MP on July 27, 2022,
regarding his dissatisfaction over the conduct of the 1MDB
investigation. “The case is now being investigated by
the Classified Investigation Unit of the Criminal Investigation
Department, under Section 217 of the Penal Code.
“Investigation is ongoing,” said Royal Malaysia Police secretary Noorsiah Mohd Saaduddin in a media statement this evening.
