Rudyard Kipling"
“When you're left wounded on Afganistan's plains and
the women come out to cut up what remains, Just roll to your rifle
and blow out your brains,
And go to your God like a soldier”
General Douglas MacArthur"
“We are not retreating. We are advancing in another direction.”
“It is fatal to enter any war without the will to win it.” “Old soldiers never die; they just fade away.
“The soldier, above all other people, prays for peace, for he must suffer and be the deepest wounds and scars of war.”
“May God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won't .” “The object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his.
“Nobody ever defended, there is only attack and attack and attack some more.
“It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived.
The Soldier stood and faced God
Which must always come to pass
He hoped his shoes were shining
Just as bright as his brass
"Step forward you Soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't
Because those of us who carry guns
Can't always be a saint."
I've had to work on Sundays
And at times my talk was tough,
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny
That wasn't mine to keep.
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep,
The Soldier squared his shoulders and said
And I never passed a cry for help
Though at times I shook with fear,
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand."
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod
As the Soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, you Soldier,
You've borne your burden well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."
Society is not to blame for 'basikal lajak' tragedy - Commander S THAYAPARAN (Retired) Royal Malaysian Navy

"Basikal Lajak" readying the next generation of "Mat Rempits"
IndigoKite6964: One hallmark of this society spoken of here is the way that God is seen as the architect for everything that happens to them.
If they get a windfall, even if it is ill-gotten, as in the case of Najib, it was God's will .. praise be to him! If lives are lost, it is God's testing. If they get into a tangle they can't get out from .. swearing by God's name helps.
Change will only come when they realize that God is not the architect of crimes, irresponsible behaviour and stupidity and he is certainly not the "get out of jail" pass.
Change will only come if the change is wanted. It begins with education and the realisation that they are in perfect control of many things in their lives ... the outcome of which is very much in their hands because God placed it there.
But that is dangerous for those elite political masters. Keeping this majority society dumb is a political objective to keep them in power and this society under their thumb. Their children are mostly educated overseas .. in countries and societies they consider kafir.
Well .. for the minority group, we carry on knowing that much of the good and bad that comes our way is very much our own doing. For those of us who subscribe to a religion, God is our guide eventhough he sometimes choses to intervene. Our achievements is an honor to our God. Our failures can only be the shame of his name.
Perhaps that is why the minority is always the political bogeyman. We do not subscribe to the fatalistic religious views of the majority. We will progress often leaving the majority behind .. even with all the impedances thrown at us.
As for our children, we have the same problems as any parent would have. We do our best to ensure that they are not out racing bikes and doing stunts at 3am when they should be sleeping so that they can do well in school later in the day.
Malaysiakini : “Our problems stem from our acceptance of this filthy, rotten system.” - Dorothy Day
COMMENT | It is difficult to make the case that society is to blame for the basikal lajak tragedy because as citizens of this country, we do not participate in society as equals. The
political system is predicated on race. Economic, social and legal
policies are predicated on race and the non-Malays are constantly told
to be grateful for their citizenship.
I suppose we are a society in the definitional sense but beyond that,
a certain segment of this society really does not have much say on how
policy is formed to ameliorate problems faced as a collective. To do otherwise would invite accusations of trespassing and meddling in majority issues.
Lawyer Siti Kasim asked:
"Why don't our government build parks where these kids can go and play
to their heart's desire? Just like in some countries, they have
skateboarding parks for them to play.”
