7th Rangers: PBDSB questions govt rational in setting up university in Kpg Trombol - You Sarawakians, are you still sleeping, the writing is already on the wall in Malaya
Fighting Seventh
The Fighting Rangers On War, Politics and Burning Issues
Rudyard Kipling"
āWhen you're left wounded on Afganistan's plains and
the women come out to cut up what remains, Just roll to your rifle
and blow out your brains,
And go to your God like a soldierā
General Douglas MacArthur"
āWe are not retreating. We are advancing in another direction.ā
āIt is fatal to enter any war without the will to win it.ā āOld soldiers never die; they just fade away.
āThe soldier, above all other people, prays for peace, for he must suffer and be the deepest wounds and scars of war.ā
āMay God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won't .ā āThe object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his.
āNobody ever defended, there is only attack and attack and attack some more.
āIt is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived.
The Soldier stood and faced God
Which must always come to pass
He hoped his shoes were shining
Just as bright as his brass
"Step forward you Soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't
Because those of us who carry guns
Can't always be a saint."
I've had to work on Sundays
And at times my talk was tough,
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny
That wasn't mine to keep.
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep,
The Soldier squared his shoulders and said
And I never passed a cry for help
Though at times I shook with fear,
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand."
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod
As the Soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, you Soldier,
You've borne your burden well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."

Bobby William
The Borneo Post : MIRI (March 4): Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak Baru (PBDSB) questions the
state governmentās decision to set up a university near Kampung Trombol
in Telaga Air as part of its efforts to develop a quality ummah.
Its president Bobby William said the decision, which was announced by
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg recently, was
commendable if not for the fact that it only caters for a minority of
society in Sarawak. āPBDSB is asking why is it that even though Sarawak is officially a
secular state, it seems that the government policies are pointing
towards an Islamic-centric government.
āPBDSB questions the usefulness of such a university which only caters for Muslims,ā he said in a statement. As a secular state, Bobby said emphasis should be placed on education and not be religious-centric, in this case, Islam. āOur state government should focus on science and technology in
institutions of learning and building universities that focus on such
subjects.
āIn a developing country like ours, it is our opinion that religious
studies should take a back seat and science and technology prioritised
in order to have a workforce with cutting edge technological skills. āWe have enough religious teachers who do not contribute to
nation-building. Our corruption index seems to be getting from bad to
worse despite the large presence of ulamas and religious teachers in the
state and country.
āDevelopment funds should be used to benefit all Sarawakians and not specifically for Muslims only in Sarawak,ā he added. Adding on, Bobby said that it must be noted that Sarawak is a secular state and Islam is not the stateās official religion. āSo why is the government setting up a university that is only catering to a small section of Sarawakians or Muslims only?
āWhy is our state government becoming more Muslim-centric? With the
state having a population of only 29 per cent Muslims, is the state
government being fair in terms of equal distribution of the stateās
wealth? āIf Abang Johari is so concerned about educating Sarawakians with
religious knowledge, why is only Islam being given priority where Muslim
accounts for only 29 per cent of the population according to a 2021
census?ā
Bobby said that according to a 2013 census, Christians make up 54.2 per cent of the total population of Sarawak. āShouldnāt whatās good for the gander should also be good for the goose? āIf by having more ulamas and religious teachers in the state to
elevate it to be a high income and developed with a structured economy
as said by the CM, then the government is having the wrong prerogative
by focussing on religious studies.
āJust look at Singapore and Indonesia today.
Foreign investments are
pouring into these two countries as investors are not spooked by overly
religious-centric government officials with little knowledge about the
economy,ā said Bobby.
