Rudyard Kipling"
āWhen you're left wounded on Afganistan's plains and
the women come out to cut up what remains, Just roll to your rifle
and blow out your brains,
And go to your God like a soldierā
General Douglas MacArthur"
āWe are not retreating. We are advancing in another direction.ā
āIt is fatal to enter any war without the will to win it.ā āOld soldiers never die; they just fade away.
āThe soldier, above all other people, prays for peace, for he must suffer and be the deepest wounds and scars of war.ā
āMay God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won't .ā āThe object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his.
āNobody ever defended, there is only attack and attack and attack some more.
āIt is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived.
The Soldier stood and faced God
Which must always come to pass
He hoped his shoes were shining
Just as bright as his brass
"Step forward you Soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't
Because those of us who carry guns
Can't always be a saint."
I've had to work on Sundays
And at times my talk was tough,
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny
That wasn't mine to keep.
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep,
The Soldier squared his shoulders and said
And I never passed a cry for help
Though at times I shook with fear,
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand."
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod
As the Soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, you Soldier,
You've borne your burden well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."
Battered by a drug addicted husband and abused by the authorities along with people of sanctimonious piety

The battered and abused Loh Siew Hong pictured with a broken arm
Malaysiakini : Vijay47 - This surely must be a terrible tale of two tragedies wreaked on an unfortunate lady.
Body battered and bones broken, she was the hapless victim of a drug-consumed monster whose only excuse may be that he had lost all his senses. The other side of her agony is that it continues even today, with inhuman efforts being pursued to deprive her of her own young children to bring them up in any way she chooses.
Monsters seem to play such a prominent role in Loh Siew Hongās unbelievable story of sorrow.
If one wants to be callous, one could say that the physical battering she received from her animal husband was the aftermath of a marriage gone rancid. It could happen in any relationship, in her case it was worse than the norm. Maybe. One could even accept it, claiming that the die just fell the wrong way for her. Some wives get roses, some get blows. Too bad, siew cheh.
Yet what is unforgivable, what assures eternal fires awaiting them are those persons including one man supposedly of the Islamic cloth who are pulling out all the stops to prevent mother and children being united again as a family. I am not even referring to the order of the court, which seems so blithely sneered at. I am shocked that any individual could act so mercilessly contrary to basic human decency.
And why this passion for separation? Because their poster-boy is a drug-related convict resting in a Machang jail. Machang? How poetic, it is in Kelantan. And what did he do to earn such adulation? He became a Muslim and illegally converted his three under-aged children. How wonderful, 4 birds, 1 stone.
In this shocking season of incredulity, we have Mohd Asri Zainal Abidin, a state mufti lest in your disgust you forget, who has the audacity to defend the conversion on the grounds that the children could recite some religious verse. And they had confided in him amidst the satay that they wished to be Muslims and remain in childrenās homes.
But those who thought that Ms Loh Siw Hong is going to roll over and surrender, they are in for a surprise. This once-abused wife now a fighting mother will battle on until justice is served and whether Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu, or Christian, we will meet her legal expenses all the way.My personal comfort is that despite my own unworthiness, those persons stabbing that family over and over again have the best seats in Hell reserved for them.
