“Horror torture with the kitchen knife! In Berlin in court: the
merciless tormenter of women,” translated from “Horror-Folter mit dem
Küchenmesser! In Berlin vor Gericht: Der Frauen-Quäler ohne Gnade,” Berliner Kurier, January 13, 2022 (thanks to Medforth):
With the last of her strength she reached the window –
gagged, tied up, brutally mutilated. More than nine years after the
fact, her ex-boyfriend is on trial. It is about attempted murder in two cases – cruelly committed. The
woman’s breasts and nose were cut off and her genital area disfigured.
According to the prosecution, he wanted to let her daughter die of
thirst.
Omid R. (54) in the dock: long beard, hair tied in a plait. Born in
Iraq, his passport is Dutch. He stated IT technician as a profession. He was with the Iranian Banafshe K. for a short time. She, then 36
years old and mother of a ten-year-old daughter, separated. Omid R. –
convicted of violence against his ex-wife – retaliated, according to the
indictment.
The public prosecutor: “He wanted to rob her of her attractiveness
and her femininity.” He wanted to inflict severe suffering on her – out
of jealousy and anger about the separation. On the morning of October 30, 2012, according to the indictment, he
broke into the Iranian woman’s apartment in Schöneberg, tied her up and
gagged her, and wrapped her face with adhesive tape at mouth level.
Her daughter was also handcuffed and gagged. The girl was then
imprisoned in another room when her mother was tortured to near death.
R. should announce: “If I can’t have you, nobody should have you.” R. is said to have thrown the woman, whose hands and feet were tied,
on the bed and raped her. Then he took a sharp kitchen knife – “he first
cut off her breasts, then the tip of the nose and finally the outer
pubic area,” said the prosecutor.
Omid R. had barricaded windows and doors, then left with the
conviction: Mother and daughter could not save themselves. The defaced
woman would not survive the injuries and her daughter would die of
thirst.
The Iranian is a joint plaintiff in the process and is represented by
lawyer Roland Weber. You have an “irrepressible will to live,” he said
in front of the hall. That’s why she survived. And because a cyclist
reacted. “And because of the outstanding medical help.” She had to get
through dozens of operations behind her. Thanks to the plastic surgery
in Berlin “the cut nose is very well reconstructed.”
At around 5.45 p.m., the critically injured man managed to get to the
window. A cyclist noticed her, saw the blood-smeared face and called
for help. Police officers now testified as witnesses. They had to detail the
horrific scenes. A policewoman: “The severed body parts were no longer
in the apartment.”
R. is said to have fled to Iran. He was arrested there and also
convicted of the crimes in Berlin. In May 2019 he was released, in March
2020 he fled to the Netherlands and was arrested in the mutilation
case. R. responded that he had already been sentenced for this and
should not be punished twice. But in July 2021 he was extradited to
Germany.
His lawyers: “At the moment he does not want to talk about it.
