Bareilly police have arrested a 32-year-old madrassa
teacher for allegedly announcing a reward of Rs 1 crore for beheading an
Uttarakhand priest. A video of the madrassa teacher making the threat
had surfaced on social media, the Times of India reported.
In an interview with a TV channel, the madrassa teacher had
reportedly announced the Rs 1 crore reward for anyone who beheads the
priest. The teacher had taken exception to the priest’s alleged remarks
targeting people of a particular community….
Bareilly SSP Rohit Singh Sajwan told TOI, “The teacher had released a
statement on social media in which he had announced a reward of Rs 1
crore for beheading a particular person. We have arrested him.” In his statement to the police, the teacher claimed he was “hurt”
after the priest “made a statement that all the Muslims should be moved
out of Uttarakhand”.…
It has also emerged that after his televised appearance went viral,
the madrassa teacher took to social media and said he was “mentally
unstable” at the time he made the provocative announcement and
apologised for his remarks.
