Vlad Tepes : While the Islamic Month-long holiday of Ramadan just
started this Tuesday, April 13, the French brand Evian – a Danone
subsidiary – has caused an uproar among Muslims who feel insulted by a
tweet.
“Retweet if you have already drunk 1 liter of Evian today”, published the famous French brand on its Twitter account.
Evian is well known for distributing mineral water. […] Muslims and
leftists on social media denounced the company for daring to speak about
their companies water on Ramadan. Terrified by the potential deadly
backlash hurting Muslims feelings could bring, Evian released an apology
via Twitter. The message stated, “Sorry for the clumsiness of this
tweet which calls for no provocation.”
