Rudyard Kipling"
“When you're left wounded on Afganistan's plains and
the women come out to cut up what remains, Just roll to your rifle
and blow out your brains,
And go to your God like a soldier”
General Douglas MacArthur"
“We are not retreating. We are advancing in another direction.”
“It is fatal to enter any war without the will to win it.” “Old soldiers never die; they just fade away.
“The soldier, above all other people, prays for peace, for he must suffer and be the deepest wounds and scars of war.”
“May God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won't .” “The object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his.
“Nobody ever defended, there is only attack and attack and attack some more.
“It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived.
The Soldier stood and faced God
Which must always come to pass
He hoped his shoes were shining
Just as bright as his brass
"Step forward you Soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't
Because those of us who carry guns
Can't always be a saint."
I've had to work on Sundays
And at times my talk was tough,
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny
That wasn't mine to keep.
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep,
The Soldier squared his shoulders and said
And I never passed a cry for help
Though at times I shook with fear,
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand."
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod
As the Soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, you Soldier,
You've borne your burden well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."
Malaysiakini : We just want to 'criticise' Malays, not other groups, says Dr M.
Visu : The point one has to look at is that this conference is about Malay dignity. It is a real wonder what has happened to the Malay's dignity after 62 years of Malay hegemony; almost 100 % Malay control on every aspect of governance and government, with very little room for non-Malays to maneuver, always at the mercy of the Malay licensing rajah in control of every bit of regular and commercial life.
Dignity is defined as the state or quality of being worthy of honour or respect. A conference on dignity of a race can only be done if the race feels it has lost that worth especially when it has been enjoying the supreme control. The real need of the hour would be for the Malays to ask why such an unworthy state of affairs ever arose.
Any lack of honour or respect to an individual or group of people needs introspection and in the case of Malays it can easily be identified as being due to disrespect of others. The bias shown towards others who are not Malays, is visible and painfully disrespectful, that it does not merit any according of honour or respect.
A policeman treats a Malay or even a Muslim with more respect then a Malaysian Indian or Chinese, an immigration officer favours a Muslim for immigration, refugees from Muslim countries are given refuge while those from non-Muslim nations are chased out, special financial priviliges given to Malays and Muslims, the list can go on and on, especially when one considers even when dog catchers from the Majlis (generally cat lovers), instead of silently carrying out their duty, get abusive and throw insults onto animal owners who love their animals like any other of God's many creations.
Surely the Malays must introspect as to why they have lost their dignity and not use this conference to add further unworthiness to their battered self image.
Freethinker : Tun, you forget that New Malaysia we voted for is for all Malaysians. Eradication of corruption. Helping all who are in need, freedom of Religion while Islam is the Official Religion for functions involving the state.
Govern with integrity and without racial or religion consideration for the better of the country and her people.
You have diluted PH's dream and are destroying the hope of a New Malaysia we all aspire for.
We don't need Umno 2.0 in Malaysia 2.0.
Pls step down and you make more damage to our dream of United Malaysia
Malaysiakini : Penang Deputy Chief Minister II P Ramasamy
I am not sure whether Zainal Kling
is aware of the pitfalls of ethnic nationalism as history is replete
with examples of how the relentless drive towards ethnic nationalism or
jingoism might end up in fascism.
Maybe on a lighter note, there
could be a feeling on the part of Zainal that he wants to be popular and
the only way to do this is get himself involved in the Malay congress,
so that he could take an extreme line.
But why for your own selfishness, there is a need to pit Malays against non-Malays.
