“Barcelona officers shoot knifeman who storms police station ‘shouting Allahu Akbar,'” by Latifa Yedroudj, Express, August 20, 2018: POLICE have shot a man who shouted “Allahu Akbar” as he tried to attack officers near Barcelona this morning. Officers fired at the knifeman around 6 am this morning, at a police station in Cornella, just outside the Catalan capital.
The 29-year-old man of Algerian origins allgedly shouted “Allahu
Akbar”, according to newspaper El Pais, before attempting to attack
officers. The regional Mossos d’Esquadra police confirmed the incident, but declined to comment he had been killed. They wrote on Twitter: “A man armed with a knife has accessed the
police station in Cornella this morning with the aim of attacking
officers.
“He has been taken out. “The incident happened just before 6am this morning.”… The regional Mossos d’Esquadra police said they are investigating the reason behind the attack. The man was born in Algeria but had a Spanish NIE, an ID for foreigners. The incident comes just three days after the anniversary of terror attacks that hit Barcelona’s Las Ramblas.
