I have been in contact with both Xxxxx and Xxxxxx. The situation in Egypt, as you know, is very bad right now. After the military dispersed the Pro-Morsi protests, the radical Islamists dispersed into rural areas and started rampantly attacking and burning Christian businesses, Christian homes, and churches. Xxxxx reported a 16-year-old girl killed who was in a church that was being attacked. A pharmacist was killed protecting the pharmacy. A very notorious and well respected Christian evangelist was beaten severely and is in ICU. Xxxxxxx, Xxxxxās youngest, is stuck on a bus with 200 other boys who were at a conference. It is unsafe for them to travel home because their busses say āEvangelicalā¦ (I donāt remember the rest)ā, making them a target.
Xxxxx and Xxxxx went out to get supplies today so they could stay inside tomorrow. The streets in Cairo are fairly quiet today. They are cleaning up and burying the dead. However, Xxxxx said, he did not feel safe on the streets. There is a military enforced curfew after 7pm (right now it is about 10:30 pm), but tomorrow all the violence will start all over and possibly in much greater force because Muslims meet at the Mosques Friday morning, which will instigate more fighting and get people fired up again. Xxxxx told Xxxx that there has been more persecution of Christians in Egypt the last year under Morsi than there has been in the last 30 years. This seems like an understatement, but please pray for Egypt, the Christians, and our friends there. We may feel helpless, but we can pray. From Jihad Watch.(Photo thanks to The Secular.)
