Citizens – netizens from all walks of life and who have the access to the cyber world have expressed every concern there is to this bombing of a foreign, lone woman on Malaysian soil. Of course we cannot expect the political party’s media organs to present these prevailing national concerns which again reaffirm a darker agenda behind the curtains of seeming ‘self-regulation’. Let us for a moment skip all the details since 2006 when a foreign national was blown away into nothingness as these are already well known not only in Malaysia but in the four corners of the world too.

Let us also put aside for the moment too, the fact that the mens rea was aborted from the casee hearing and which, in all our minds, raises the missing link question as to why would a would be murderer and or the accomplice want to go to such unprecedented extremes to not only murder Altantuya but also blow her up until nothing remains of her and abort all records within the immigration database as well. Never mind - for the moment too, the fact as per the outcome in Court now that even the actus rea was seemingly not there!

There is however one significant truth that we cannot afford to miss nor seem unable to do anything about. It is the about the serious damage to the national image of Malaysia. How can we live with this scourge that has been brought upon our country’s international reputation by our own doing? This is no ordinary murder. This is no ordinary death caught in a cross fire of military defense. This is no crime of passion where someone takes the life of another with a sword, gun or sheer battering.

This is about treason against the nation. Committing a murder so heinous and beyond all known records in the world and yet unable and unwilling to dispense speedy justice that is acceptable and honorable in the eyes of the entire nation and the world community. We have as a result brought great shame to this nation. The integrity and honor of this nation hangs precariously on the guillotine. How can we even stand tall and proud on the dais saluting to our national flag at Independence Square or even march the parade come this Merdeka anniversary celebration, knowing too well that we who are in the hallways of justice, governance, law and enforcement have not dared to lift a finger or speak out without fear or favor to ensure that the truth prevailed for the soul of Altantuya?

Seven years have dragged the nation’s good name and reputation in the mud and slime and we are still holding hope in a Courtroom that finds mens rea of no consequence and actus rea un-established? Where are all those seeming patriotic leaders who never hesitated to reprimand and cajole citizens to hold the Malaysian flag high to mark Merdeka? Where are all those politicians and senior civil servants with power who seemingly are passionate for the nation and enthuse overwhelmingly in public promoting the 56th Independence celebrations? Do we not see that our nation’s reputation, integrity, honor and good name has become the laughing stock of the world as a result of the Altantuya killing and none within the corridors of political power and the Institutions of democracy are willing to step forward and demand uncompromised justice let alone make a statement in the best interest of salvaging our fallen honor?

How can we Malaysians even pretend that everything is alright? How can we Malaysians carry on with our preaching and national slogans when we have let this Altantuya case continue to hang like a noose on the national pride of this country? Law abiding and patriotic Malaysians have over seven long years waited with due respect and hope in the due process of the law, hoping for justice – only to hear that there are no killers. Yet again we learn that the Altantuya murder through the hallway of jurisprudence is not exhausted. There is impending appeal and God and the plotters only know what next. But the point we may all have missed, compromised or taken for granted is, this is a classic case of treason against the nation and we still have to endure more shame. Why?

When an opposition politician utters an unsavory word or two, the powers that be and through their arsenal of main stream media will descend like a tornado screaming ‘penghianat bangsa dan negara’ and immediate justice is dispensed to appease the followers. But here in the case of Altantuya, we have the whole world mocking at us and there is no resolve. There is no national duty and patriotic spirit to redeem the name and dignity of Malaysia and all Malaysians – especially the Institutions of a democratic nation, namely the Judiciary, the Police, the Immigration, and above all the very Prime Minister’s office. Why?

Perhaps it is about time that all religious leaders, committed and truly patriotic politicians, honorable non-governmental organizations and all caring, concerned citizens stood together with support and blessings from the nation’s Constitutional Monarch and all of His Majesty’s Council of Rulers to demand for the dignity, integrity and honor of this nation to be restored. We need to resolve the Altantuya case in a manner that regains the respect of the world. Anything less is treason against this democratic nation. All the patriotic slogans and national themes like “Endless Possibilities” mean nothing when we remain indifferent to the smashing of our national reputation. Yes or no?
